States are reopening based on the economy, not science.

The virus spread is not decreasing with the exception of New York, but they’re just really-opening. There is no safety in any of these plans.
Because much of the country went into shelter in place it kept explosive spread in check for a time. That time is OVER. The level danger is higher than ever. I feel like we’re living in an alternate reality. I desperately want to wake up from this nightmare.
How many deaths is enough?

is yet to come. Mini versions of NYC will pop up everywhere across the U.S., making a borderline situation already w/ the CV worst (pushing CV infections/illnesses/death over the top).

Even thought we're opening back up in MO, both of us are going to wait and see. They say it takes anywhere from 2-14 days for cases of the CV to develop, thus, we'll wait and see, before we dip our toes into the waters of illness and / or death. We're in no hurry to get sick/worse.

County in the state. Everything opened here last Friday except dine in restaurants. I believe several opened yesterday with a “new” layout. The city council voted to end shelter in place early last week. My fascist neighbors are elated.
The State university, the lone voice of reason around here announced that fall classes will be online, or an electronic version.
My family and I are not going anywhere. Locally, cases increase by 87 yesterday.

not knowing if they're positive or not, spreading the CV around. And the worst thing about this whole mess? All of us will suffer, not just the idiots running around.

Be careful and safe!

Sadly and tragically that is not the case.

2. Nothing prevents anyone from staying in their homes for as long as they desire

No one is required to frequent any establishment that has opened.

My employer has already declared bankruptcy due to the shut down. A lot of people are going to find that they now have no jobs to return to, and the longer places are prevented from reopening, the more there will be.

How do you stay in your home for as long as you desire if you have to work?

Passed to help those people instead of their corporate masters and the banks. Not to mention the nice little slush fund the orange POS set up for his campaign. The people in charge and the policy they champion and work for matters. Until us little people realize the power in our collective, we’re doomed.

12. So how many people do you want to die so people can go back to work?

We are already at 85,000?

What do you say to these people as they are dying? that they are heroes for supporting your lifestyle?

What do you say to their families and loved ones? "I'm sorry your grandfather suffocated to death from a deadly virus, but I have to go to work?"

I never thought I would see the day when people are arguing we need to murder hundreds of thousands of people so businesses can stay open.

In my state lottery tickets and recreational marijuana are deemed to be essential.

How many deaths of people are we willing to accept so people can gamble and get high? What do you say to their families and loved ones?

9. stoping a highly contagious disease cannot be a matter of individual choice
Sat May 16, 2020, 01:18 PM
May 2020

The people who choose to ignore quarantine practices that aren't mandatory will spread the disease to others who do.

This is a disease with a high rate or death.

People who choose economics over safety are killing other people.

Deliberately causing the deaths of others for economic reasons is morally reprehensible. A need to make a living never justifies causing someone else's death.

"People who choose economics over safety are killing other people."

Because they would be killing other people by doing so.

15. The economy can't stay closed when the US has a poor social system
Sat May 16, 2020, 02:00 PM
May 2020

The basic reality is that you have to open the country back up because without universal income or other very strong supportive social programs in place, millions of Americans are going to go into absolute poverty and that’s going to cause a bigger crises than the pandemic.

Republicans are still trying to cut off food stamps and they are willing to block any bill that will make a continued lockdown livable. This is the dystopian nightmare that we are in.
