Check out the Venice canals! They're clear, not muddy and stinky

A jellyfish is spotted gliding through the canals of Venice, Italy, as decreased boat traffic has made the water more transparent, making it easier to observe marine life—even in the middle of town.

Other life forms would thrive. And would probably coexist more harmoniously and less rapaciously.

Remarkable to watch.

I suspect it will ultimately survive our screwing up the planet once we are gone.

It’s as if Mother Nature is saying you are destroying nature with your overindulgence and I’m gong to even the playing field.

If you've never been to Venice, usually the canals are something you would NOT put your fingers in. Dark. Muddy. Fetid.

This is amazing.

I’ve been to Venice twice 25 years apart. First time we didn’t go on a gondola ride, second time I went with friends and I went on the ride because they all wanted to go. Truth to tell, I didn’t really care one way or the other. Venice is such a walkable city and the people who live in the areas surrounding Venice don’t really use them, they use these big boats, I don’t remember what they’re called, kind of like a streetcar on the water, to get from the mainland or one of the surrounding island into Venice proper. Actually, it is extremely expensive to actually live in Venice. And there is a train station right there. You get off the train, walk across the bridge and you’re there. What I’m trying to say, is that the gondolas are just there for the tourists. I
Think it would be just as beautiful, probably more so, if you didn’t have the gondolas stirring up all the silt and having the clear water. Plus not so smelly.

prior with my hubby. Beautiful city.

BTW, the "street cars" on water are called water taxis - there are public ones (like public buses) and their are private ones. We rode the public ones - ticket price based on zones. It was 3/4 euro for our rides.
