Your detrumpification ideas, please

After Trump is defeated, we must work to ensure that something like this never happens again.

My first thought: One big problem we have with this administration is the amount of responsibility he's given to his children. I do not believe Trump would be pulling half the stunts he is if it wasn't for Ivana's children and his daughter's husband egging him on. And the only reason he can have them in the building in the first place is they're not officially being paid for being there.

To solve this: We create a carveout in the federal anti-nepotism law for one person and put the president's spouse on the federal payroll at the paygrade of GS-12. Next, we put White House interns on the payroll at the paygrade of GS-7. Once this is done, we can implement a law that states no one can work in the Executive Office of the President in any capacity if that person is not on the federal payroll.

including the president must be able to pass a security clearance. It should be done prior to even running for pres. If they cannot pass, they cannot run for the position. Included in that is everyone in the administration. No free pass from the president, the decision is to be made by those nonpartisans doing the investigations.

Since it adds a qualification for President

2- do you see any potential for abuse to restrict the pool of candidates? How would it be done by 'nonpartisans'? Are there really people out there who have zero political leanings so they would have no bias?

have been done by intelligence and FBI officials who do the investigations and make the recommendations without partisanship. It is not one person and there is a opportunity for those who do not qualify to dispute a decision and have it re-examined. I do believe that if a president cannot pass a security test then they do not qualify, period. We all know Trump would never have been cleared nor would half of the people working with him. We all know Jared and Ivanka could not pass. This has not been a problem in the past but it has sure been brought to the forefront by these criminals and grifters there now.

We have to prosecute every one of the bastards. Not just to punish, but send a message to a smart Trump this can't happen again.

Too many are brainwashed. It's the Ministry of Truth of Orwell's 1984 come to life for Trump. Because of free speech guarantee of the 1st amendment, it can't be silenced but perhaps a return of the Fairness Doctrine will impede their propaganda. Trouble is that conservative jurists may sink it, if it were reimposed.

Require cable carriers to offer multiple news channels with basic cable would give viewers more options.

Don't allow on air programs to deliberately lie under the guise of "entertainment"

Support NPR/PBS in areas with fewer alternatives

Allocate AM clear channel frequencies to allow more diversity of opinion. Maybe like FM allocate a specific portion of the AM band for non-profit and educational stations.

It would not apply to closed loop systems such as cable TV.

Now, we could have regulations/laws like Canada where if you bill yourself as news, you must clearly label opinion shows and you must not broadcast lies.

The FCC already has some jurisdiction over cable-- it would need to be expanded to include the right to impose a new Fairness Doctrine. At worst, cable systems might have to be declared national utilities. It is the internet, which FCC also has some jurisdiction that would pose a bigger problem, especially relative to free speech.

more easily than cable.

But, that works as well.

Fairness doctrine WOULD affect Right Wing Hate Radio which is mostly on regular airwaves.

Right down to contractors for ICE kids in cages facilities and profiteers on PPE.

Unless these bastards are held accountable, the truth exposed and justice is done, America will be doomed to repeat this cycle of corruption and crimes against humanity.

Before we can look forward, we must look back at what went wrong, and punish the wrongdoers to ensure it never happens again.

No pardoning him and his spawn 'So that we can move on and put this behind us'.

No 'it would be embarrassing to have a former president on trial'.

No 'well, when we're in office they'll do the same thing to our guy if we don't pardon'.

No 'it would be more civil to let it go'.

The flaws in our system have been shown and highlighted. So, we need to fix them and move forward in ensuring that this never happens again.
