This right here SHOULD end Romney's campaign.

(101,414 posts)That is confirmed, for instance, by the Wall Street Journal. He's condemning Obama for a statement put out by the embassy that tried to calm things down before they got bad.

You're saying that the Cairo Embassy's statement (which, as far as I have seen, is aimed at condemning those who incite violence, especially that based on religion) was made before the events in Libya?
Sorry, I hate being so out of the loop but the plethora of posts and articles haven't help me gain clarity of the sequence of events.
Thanks.

(101,414 posts)For instance, the first DU LBN item on Cairo: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014225708
and the first on Benghazi: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014225984 (which says "on the same day as a similar group of hardliners waving black banners attacked the US embassy in Cairo" .
And National Review were condemning the Cairo embassy statement before the Benghazi incident: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/316550/us-embassy-favors-religious-feelings-over-free-speech-attacked-anyway-nina-shea , and reported it as "it didn't work anyway - they stormed the compound".
The film had been in Egyptian news for a few days:

so it's not surprising the embassy put out a statement hoping to calm things down. You can poitn out to the right wingers that's what diplomacy is.
