This is one of the most pathetic form letters I have ever seen. As a part of a funny note, my email service flagged this as a Red Zone Spam (you know the one that contains extortion, inappropriate offers, and other garbage). I think the algorithm has it right.
Dear Mr.
Thank you for taking the time to contact me about your perspective on President Trump. It is important for me to hear from folks in Iowa on matters such as these.
As you know, on November 8, 2016, Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States. On December 19, 2016, the Electoral College voted to officially confirm his victory and on January 20, 2017, Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Those that did not support him have continued to raise concerns about his election and administration. I certainly respect these concerns, and I will continue to work in the Senate to fight for the issues of most importance to all Iowans and ensure three co-equal branches of government.
For two decades, I proudly wore our nation's uniform in the Iowa Army National Guard and the Army Reserves, and I am proud now to represent you in the United States Senate. As both an Army officer and a United States Senator, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. This is an oath I take very seriously. I will keep fighting to defend the Constitution and stay focused on issues of importance to Iowans.
I am ready to make Washington work for you and please know that I will continue to keep your views in mind going forward. Please feel free to contact my office in the future with any further information, as I always enjoy hearing from Iowans.
Sincerely,
Joni K. Ernst
United States Senator

(1,178 posts)Talk about an over-hyped campaign slogan people fell for. "I'm going to Washington to make them squeal," claiming she was going to be an independent voice for Iowans. All she's done is voted along the party line.

(1,178 posts)Sorry to say, that looks like an auto-response. You sent an email that they don't actually wish to respond to. I'd be surprised the senator herself actually read it. Most likely an intern did, and hit the delete button.

I am really excited to vote her out of office in November!

(17,862 posts)to vote Trump out of office. It is a twofer. I really liked Rep. Braley. I participated in a budget exercise he conducted. I would like to get back to the point where we could actually have an intelligent discussion with individuals from the other side.

(16,091 posts)he came to our county meeting several times and took the time to talk to anyone who had something to say afterward. He was a great Rep overall.
Abby is doing a good job too.

(40,208 posts)They just grabbed the first form letter in the filing cabinet and sent it to you.
The truth about Joni Ernst has made itself evident since her election. She is a vapid hack with a little bit of charisma who was chosen by the republican party to send off to Washington to not represent the people of Iowa but rather to represent the corporations and power mongers who control the republican party.
Compare the women that republicans elect to the Senate, Congress and as Governors, people like Joni Ernst, Marsha Blackburn, Kim Reynolds, and the ever dense Susan Collins to those Democrats elect...Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Nancy Pelosi, Mazie Hirono, and Gretchen Whitmer. The intellectual divide is astounding.

(82,849 posts)Save your e-mails (make sure they're above reproach, be polite and kind) and the canned responses you get from Ernst's office. Provide these out-of-touch exchanges to local Democrats, telling them that they'll know what to do with them.
