Is the lack of leadership making this crisis more serious?

Are more people dying because of it?

Do Mitch McConnell and the Republicans have blood on their hands because they did not remove this charlatan when they had the chance? Some would argue that they do.

We cannot separate this epidemic from the past 3 years. It has been one continuous shit-show since the ride down the escalator. This is just the culmination of it all up to this point.

“For the want of a nail the shoe was lost,
For the want of a shoe the horse was lost,
For the want of a horse the rider was lost,
For the want of a rider the battle was lost,
For the want of a battle the kingdom was lost,
And all for the want of a horseshoe-nail.”

For the want of a leader, the nation was lost?

even if there are different rules for different areas within a country (china locked down wuhan province in a way they didn't lock down other provinces, e.g.), but decisions were being made centrally.

the u.s. is one of the few, if not the only one, where the central authority is saying each area is on its own, and in fact has to compete with each other for life-saving resources.

well, what do you expect from a game show tv host but a public health policy that sounds like the hunger games?

why is it that 25% of all cases worldwide are in the u.s.? we only have 4.25% of world population.

how is it that a number of hospitals are beyond capacity and yet we still don't have a national quarantine?

When I got out of hospital early last month, the doctor was furious at the lack of any co-ordinated national policy. It has not just been state by state and city by city, but even hospital by hospital that policy has been left to, and the result can only be at best a mosaic, and at worst must be a patchwork.

The clown pulls these surreal stunts every day. It's not like it's some tiny thing, the flap of a butterfly wing, leading to a tornado across the country. This is the most powerful man in the freaking world being literally one of the worst human beings you could conceive of- the impact of that on our country, and the world, is far from unpredictable.

and hollowed it out. They have cut off our supply system in a pandemic and set up a private profiteering system in its place.

They have been consistent in leaning in to violence and killing and ending human rights. Kashoggi, Puerto Rico, asylum-seekers inhumane sailings, the destruction of our economy, and an attorney general who claims that an illegitimately elected president has the rights and powers of a dictator or medieval king.

Duterte is literally threatening to murder people if they so much as set foot outside their house. If the virus doesn't get us then something else will.
