Who is fearful that if they get the coronavirus, it will be a death sentence for them?

Many that post on DU are older citizens and many have some pre-existing serious conditions.

So, it is natural and realistic, in my opinion, to think such thoughts.

But, if we all eat a lot of natural Vitamin C and keep our immune system as strong as possible, we may be able to survive this monster.

Don't give up. We need you.

If not your estate will end up in probate for a year. Name an executor, they will have access to all your financial info to close the accounts ASAP.

trust me those credit card companies will try to come after what is left, even if there is nothing. One thing I plan on doing when I start Social Security, is opening a separate account for the check to go in. They notified the bank when she died and her account got frozen.

I know that in NY to be admitted to probate a will must be executed in the presence of two witnesses and certain formalities must be observed. You can’t just write your own will in NY. Well, I did. But I executed it at my attorney’s office in the presence of two witnesses and the witnesses executed the will and certain affidavits. If you want to be sure your will is honored, consult an attorney in your state. At the very least, google the requirements in your state. Then consult an attorney if you’re uncertain about the requirements for the proper execution of a will in your state.

But there are some people who are very dear to me and who I love so much that I can't bear to think of the world without them in it. That would be especially true if this is what takes them away.

My plan is to live long enough to p*ss on trump's grave if the line is not too long.

Edit to add.
My kids are also isolating and told me that they will put the groceries on the front porch and we will wave through the window. till they leave. Of course I worry about them but we are all taking this very seriously and hoping to make it through this disaster.

..which instead grew slightly so hes the ONLY one scheduled for surgery April 8 At University of Washington. We have to drive into Seattle.. I have to stay at a hotel...cuz NO visitors..I will be using Uber IF i can visit. So Im exposing my self to so many viral opportunities. Im not even letting the maid in to clean my room. Hubby actually gets tested before he goes in. Hes in a pretty clean environment but then HE has to drive back the 2 hours to our house ( I have no idea how to drive in Seattle!)..get gas..etc. Once we get back home we are NOT leaving until I have to forage for tp...or wine.

My friend in Seattle says there is very little traffic now in Seattle!

I also doubt they will let you into the hospital. Another friend had emergency surgery last Monday in CA and no friends/family allowed for the protection of all. He was met at hospital door by a hospital employee.

If it were me I would stay out of an Uber!!!!!

If I were staying at a hotel I would bring throw away towels and never touch the carpet. I would spray everything with a disinfectant, including the air. And I’m sure your policy is already instituted about no maid visits. Wipe every surface as you go.

But of all the places, I think UW and UCSF, on the West Coast are on top of this virus. Maybe their hospital social worker can help guide you in being safe while visiting Seattle.

Being older (68) overweight , have a rarer form of Muscular Dystrophy, recently DXed with Parkinson's , and a number of other issues, so I'll be in trouble possibly if i get it . I am in strict isolation hoping it holds off until the vaccine is ready, and they are in a better health care position everywhere. I am disgusted with how trump has done to hurt people by refusal to help some for political reasons. Anyone who uses a virus as a weapon during a national health crisis for political or personal gain has no place in our government. Anyone lying to us now in our government has no place in our government. This I think this will last much longer , and be more financially destructive to our economy because their help to the people has been woefully inadequate, and too late. Stay safe everyone , and stay isolated.

We can't find mask or gloves so we use the same two par we have. My older son is not taking it serious. It is hard to have anyone bring you food because they are fearful you already have it.It is a sad state to be in. Even more sad is this did not even have to get here is we had real leadership who would have the best people around them and wanted to learn.I just do not have time to focus on this. i just pray I am negative because that would be a miracle. On the other hand, when my immune system as weak as it is, I am just taking it as it comes.

Still, my lungs are precarious at best and I am still just barely over a bad case of pleurisy I got in December.

My husband is sure he has it about every 30 minutes or so so my time is being spent outdoors working mostly.

Also like to reduce inflammation to allow immunity to potentiate by reducing foods that promote inflammation such as sugars, most dairy fat, yeast based foods, fried foods, junk foods. If I had to prepare for a flu, and I know this isn't one, I'd prep with a diet of veggies, brown rice, tomato soup, and all the greens I could throw at it. In just 3 days my inflammation would be reduced as evidenced by clearer sinuses, more energy. I would also moderately exercise, even just stretching, to promote circulation. Casual walks even around the house, are great.

scared my other half tremendously but I have come back every time. We have an appreciation of life perhaps more than others, and a creed that when its time to go, you'll go, when the Man upstairs calls your name (at least I do).

Until then, not any earlier! Live life to the fullest (don't be an idiot though), and do enjoy the small things in life that you can.

In all of the times I have died, I never even knew that anything had happened. It just happened BAM, and then later I woke up later, and wondered why/where/what was I doing on the floor, etc. Of course both of us were 'used to it' but everyone else around us were kind of freaking out. We're to the point that we stay calm, we're in control. Call 911. That's the automatic thing we do calmly for panic doesn't help.

Be safe.

Tue Mar 31, 2020, 09:34 AM

I’m a hope for the best, prepare for the worst type. I do all I can, and beyond that, I let it go.

That attitude kept me strong through H1N1, Graves’ disease, a thyroidectomy to fix that—only to learn a month later that I had cancer. Stage I, thank goodness. I cried about five seconds in self-pity, and then I got, well, severely pissed off, not at myself, at this monster that had attacked me. And my attitude then became, “Fuck YOU, cancer, I’m kicking your ass.”

I was the one who calmed down my mother when I broke the news to her. RN that she was, she was already going off on crazy things like “if you need chemo, do you want to come up here for it so I can take care of you?” I told her, hey—I’m only stage I, let’s cross that bridge if I come to it and not worry about that until then. And so didn’t need it, thank goodness. All I could do was listen to the pros handling my care, and take it one day at a time.

So I did all my doctor wanted, and came out the other end fine. My mother swears that my positive—but realistic—attitude did as much to save my life as the oncology. I wouldn’t go that far, but I do think it kept me sane and grounded through it all.

Anyway, after all that, now I have diabetes. And I’m late 50s, with hypertension.

So I’m very much in the high risk group, but again, my attitude is, prepare as best I can, follow what doctors say to do, and cross bridges only if I have to, because worrying about what ifs is asking to go crazy.

To your list kentuck I would include lysine but again, if you have the virus it must be in large doses to be curative and lysine is one of the best herbal anti-viral fighters available. Large doses, short term, (couple of weeks) will not kill you. It might save you, in fact.

As for me, my herbal prevention is lysine and maritime pine bark. Should I get the virus I will add colloidal silver as well. CS is not just an antibiotic, it is also anti-viral -- and VERY effective against all strains of virus.

I don't get the pessimists on this site. Faced with dying or trying an herbal alternative it appears that they would choose to die rather than attempt something that might save their life. It's their choice.

I have anxiety over getting the virus but that anxiety is less than others because instead of feeling hopeless I will help myself to hela myself.

prefer to add the drops to a tablespoon or so of juice and chug it cuz it tasted like tree bark - which it is! The standardized form of liquid maritime pine bark is called pycnogenol. Health food stores carry this standardized form or you can order on-line. The only place in the world where I have found liquid maritime pine bark is in Australia. Here is the link https://www.mcdowellsherbal.com/

The fatal part of the virus appears to be its effect on the respiratory system and they have a concoction that will support the respiratory system. If you go to the site (above listed) check out this remedy. I have been getting herbal guidance and product support from them for almost 2 decades and have NEVER been mistreated or misled. Their consultation/advice is free.

They have a variety of sizes but I just received another 500 ml bottle (I order one about every 3 months) from them and it cost me $321.50 plus a $6 foreign transaction fee. It may seem pricey but my horses and I are on it and remember you only take a few drops daily. Clinical testing has proven that it is 25x stronger then Vit C. I can honestly attest to its effectiveness as a liver support, immune support and cancer fighter. I will always take it, and increase the dose if I get the virus.

As for lysine, there is a product for humans and animals called Equinety that contains 1250 mg of lysine in each 5.2 g scoop -- that's a small scoop. It costs $99 for a 1.3 lb. container, or 90-day supply. My horses and I take this product everyday as well. I add the scoop of product to about 1 oz of juice (Hawaiian Punch) and let it dissolve for a while and then stir before taking. It doesn't dissolve well, there are white clumps of it still in the glass so I just add some more juice, stir and chug. Should I get the virus I will increase my daily dose of this, as well.

Several years ago EHV-1 was affecting many of the horses in the area and the vets were recommending lysine to fight the EHV-1 virus. I was amazed because it's "alternative". However the dose the vets were recommending was not sufficient to fight the virus, only for maintenance. I increased the dose for my horses and only 2 got mild cases.

I don't like to take pills so I try to stick to natural or liquid whenever I can. Besides it's better absorbed in the body.

Alternative medicine is proactive medicine, not reactive medicine.

Hope this helps. If not you can DM me.

Namaste

But not obsessed. The possibility of dying from the virus, the chance of giving it to someone else and inadequate containment measures, lack of testing and over all failure to take the outbreak seriously by both government and citizenry are all factors in making the decision to voluntarily self quarantine.

I'm still making plans for the future while taking sensible measures to improve my chances of seeing said future.

56. I was fearful enough

To write a holographic will (honored in California). I have 4 risk factors, including age.

I have the luxury of being retired and living alone. Our local small grocer is delivering food as requested. Just waiting out an “emergency” dental procedure by a dentist that I immediately understood, when meeting, watches too much Fox News. He has not shut down and from my observations is not following the CDA or Shelter-in-Place guidelines. On day 12. Feeling optimistic.

If there's a list that makes some people more vulnerable, I probably have everything checked and underlined. I feel expendable because if I got this virus there's not much hope I'll survive.

I think I'm maybe OK with that, or I'm trying to get to that state of mind because that sorta matches my end of life choices. I've always been very independent and self reliant, so the last thing I want to be is a burden.

The one thing that makes me anxious is dying alone. I would miss seeing my family, there's so few of us left. Wondering if I should say some preemptive goodbye to my brother at least, or would that create another problem. I'm dithering.

I'm OK at home for now. No outside contact since March 7 so I feel relatively safe. Gonna need groceries soon and I rely on family to pick up my order. It will feel weird keeping 6 foot away from them.

Too many ignorant citizens, and too vile a group of people taking full advantage.

Doesn't even matter what country, it's universal.

Human beings are awful creatures.

Fun parts are connected to and right next to another waste disposal system, WTF!

Don't even get started on religion and other cults, and people being stupid as hell on a wide swath of things.
This is unchanged, people have been stupid since they began, we are flawed creatures, clearly!
You have a Earth-wide group of assholes that still traffic in hard drugs and other humans in 2020!
...the list of ridiculous goes on and on and on....

If this were a ride, I'd be screaming to get off?

Good Luck!

Her lungs were scarred from an extreme sickness in her teens, and then she smoked 3 packs of cigarettes from the age of 16 - 42. if she gets this she may not survive and she lives alone. She's 66 so that's another risk factor. I'm older than her and like everyone in our family prone to respiratory illnesses but my lungs aren't scarred so my risk is way less.

Lung scarring killed our mother, it is the most horrible thing to have to decide to remove the vent and I never ever want to have to make that decision again. I had forgotten about Brenda's lungs and was stunned when she told me last night. Now that I have had time to process this, I realize I need to have a serious talk with her about life and death decisions. I refuse to be caught by surprise as we were with mom and had to make a decision not knowing what she truly wanted.

Asthma, chronic bronchitis, frequent respiratory infections, and occasional pneumonia. Over 60. Almost constant sore throat the past couple months, and regular coughing fits that would probably get me thrown out of any store.

Ironic that I died once before because I wanted to,(long story), so life seems more precious now. I'm more worried about what would happen to my farm and animals. Mr. Bayard is not in great shape either, and getting ready to head back to work next week, after being off for 6 wks.

I am officially hunkered down, at least more than usual. Starting to look up info on wills and life insurance.

Vit C is a good suggestion hearing from other countries doctors giving the patient strong dosage of Vit C when they come into hospital and seeing good results.
