1. Remember, trump didn't slow testing out of mere incompetence -- it was deliberate.

The Grotesque Orange Pustule didn't want the correct numbers because he thought it would damage his re-election chances. That's the value of life to him.

2. How can you convince the public of this fact when they think the pandemic itself is a hoax?

It's like trying to explain bacteria to someone who believes microscopes are witchcraft.

5. It is a significant enough portion of the public for one to use the phrase "the public"

I would think that after more than four decades of half the country denying science/factual reality, and after almost 4 years of Donald Trump being "President of the United States" complete with all the insanity this has brought to the nation, sane people would not be so quick to argue over such trivialities...

and yet here we are.

Almost half the public believes the pandemic is fake news and you want to argue over the definition of "the public".

Maybe we really are screwed.

7. I get what you're saying but you are defining 'the public' to exclude those in the Trump Cult.

This is exactly the same as Cult .45 claiming that their faction represents the "true" American public even as they write off the 60% as the "false" American public.

And I agree with you on this, by the way: They are unquestionably a cult.

There's no denying this because us non-cultists deal in factual reality and there's more than enough hard evidence out there to classify an overwhelming majority of those still supporting Trump as displaying overwhelmingly cult-like behavior.

But we simply cannot write off this massive minority faction of American citizens as irrelevant or 'not part of the true public' -- this is something they do, not us.

How can we ever hope to fix this problem if we refuse to recognize the scope and significance of it?

Trump is a symptom of this problem, not the cause of it, and beating him in November won't make this problem go away.

PS: I was never saying that Trump's cultists represent the entirely nor the majority of the public, and in fact my last post should have made clear that such an irrelevant semantics argument serves no purpose because it is denying the reality of the problems sane people all over the country are facing.

8. More Recent Polling Indicates More and More People Believe and Accept the CV-19 Crisis as Fact
Sun Mar 29, 2020, 09:15 AM

The number who still believe it's a hoax is no where near 50% if the polling is correct. People also now overwhelmingly believe the health professionals over Trump. There will always be some portion that believes the original Trump/Fox lies about it being a hoax. All it took for some cult members to wake up was for their mee maw to die.
