(49,001 posts)As to voters outside of Michigan, many christians are almost by reflex polite, and are a bit taken aback as a first take when tRump says "that woman" instead of Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
When placed in context in this ad it hammers home that tRump is clueless.
If that segment of the base were President, they would at least be polite in a time of crisis where a nation would pull together. It would be a small and christian thing to do. Of course not exclusively christian.
And, of course, tRump is not a true christian. Which the more they notice the Empathy and decency of Biden, the more acceptable he becomes.

(22,656 posts)We need to start writing him out of the script. This ad is way too nice. It calls attention to the traits Trump finds endearing. He won't even get it. His psychopath followers won't either. It highlights what they adore about him. They dont think he's evil because he thinks like them. Let that sink in.

(22,656 posts)How to Deal With a Psychopath...snip...
If you must deal with a psychopath, try these five strategies:
1. Keep Your Emotions in Check
No matter how frustrated or upset you feel, keep your emotions in check. Losing your cool gives a psychopath more power over you, as he'll see that he can manipulate your emotions. Present a calm demeanor at all times.
2. Don't Show That You're Intimidated
Psychopaths often use intimidation to control others. A psychopath may make subtle threats, stand over you while you're talking, or use aggressive language to get you to back down. Stand your ground in an assertive manner, and report incidents of bullying or harassment to human resources.
3. Don't Buy Into Their Stories
Psychopaths often use long-winded tales to paint themselves as victims. They often blame other people and refuse to take any responsibility for their wrongdoing. Showing sympathy for them plays into their hand, so keep discussions centered on facts only.
4. Turn the Conversation Back on Them
Pointing out a psychopath's flaws can be the best way to disarm them. So when a psychopath blames someone else, turn the conversation back on them. Say something like, "Are you doing OK today? I saw how you responded in the meeting today and I wonder if you might be stressed out."
5. Opt for Online Communication Whenever You Can
A 2016 study published in Personality and Individual Differences found that psychopaths excel at negotiating when they're communicating face-to-face. Online conversations make it difficult--if not impossible--for them to charm their way into a better deal. So consider requesting all communication occur via email if you can.
Build Your Mental Strength
If you can't escape daily interaction with a psychopath, it's especially important to work on building your mental muscles. Get proactive about taking care of yourself and managing your stress.
If you're struggling, consider talking to a mental health professional. It's difficult to stay mentally strong when you're working alongside a toxic person.

(5,017 posts)directly. They don't have any bearing on how to persuade cult followers to leave a cult.
I'm not saying you aren't right just that this data isn't relevant to your argument.

(22,656 posts)And you are being a bit of a buttinsky.
I'm not now, nor was I then, interested in starting a discussion about cults and their members.

(5,017 posts)Someone asked you for clarification.
You provided a response - here's how you deal with a psychopath.
This is an "argument" from a philosophical perspective (not a fight-argument) - as if you were writing a paper laying out a case (argument) for something.
I'm saying your response does not support your claim - not that your claim is necessarily wrong, just that the case you make does not support your claim.
As for the "buttinsky" - you're posting on a public forum, if you don't want people to comment make it a PM.

(21,458 posts)might be to eliminate any mention of Trump and focus solely on what Dems propose in handling the crisis. Hit the areas that most concern people, e.g. relief from health insurance deductibles and copays during the crisis. Plans for economic recovery, a Medicare option, how to proceed gradually with a return to work, following medical guidelines, etc.
In other words, show the leadership that the people crave and that Trump lacks. Just show a contrast without mentioning his name at all.
It works for Cuomo in his covid 19 briefings, and he's not even running.

Your approach can work too. There are many ways to attack that orange pustule.

(49,001 posts)One unremarked thing about Biden's ad that makes it very effective is that it hits while the events are fresh, fresh in the memory of viewers.
It's timely. Out there fast.
tRump thinks his daily presser rallies are great PR, but Biden is pouncing and reminding voters of his failures as they happen. tRump's daily performances provide so much material.
