Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are back in Los Angeles!
The couple were photographed driving in L.A. with Hanks behind the wheel and Wilson, both 63, in the passenger seat two weeks after they were both diagnosed with coronavirus.
The Oscar-winning actor wore a gray T-shirt and baseball cap as both he and Wilson wore sunglasses.
Their return to the U.S. from Australia, where Hanks was busy filming Baz Luhrmanns untitled Elvis Presley biopic, comes just days after Hanks shared a statement on how the couple was feeling on Twitter.

(24,317 posts)How the hell did they get back?
I understand Qantas isn't flying across that big lake, so did they take a private jet? I realize Hanks could easily afford it, but ....
Well....How the hell did they get back to the states?

(99,909 posts)There's a band that I follow called The Hu and they've been stuck in Sydney for the last 3 weeks and can't go home to Mongolia at for the time being. This sucks on so many levels.

(24,317 posts)So if they weren't in a "Bombardier Global 8000" or something similar, where did they stop?
I'm just curious because of the restrictions everywhere, like Hawaii, specifically.
Did they stop in Honolulu? Were they made to stay on the plane?
This is interesting, anyway.
I'm glad he is safe and well, but that's what being worth a few hundred million will get you when no one else can get anything close.

What about the pilots? Was there anyone else on board?
I just want to understand the logistics of this, that's all.

A HERETIC I AM
(24,317 posts)I understand it, trust me. I have been an aviation enthusiast all my life and consider myself reasonably well versed for someone who isn't a pilot.
So I get all that.
And FWIW, the only type of private plane "that is more typically outfitted with more than 150 seats for us normal folks" would be a private version of a Boeing 737 for instance, or something similar and larger. Even the largest of what are considered "Business Jets" typically only seat 20, tops.
I kind of have my doubts that they flew back on an aircraft as large as a commercial airliner, but who knows?

A HERETIC I AM
(24,317 posts)As I said, I am just curious about how this happened, that's all. I'm not trying to be contentious, or anything like that.
Again, I'm glad Mr. and Mrs. Hanks are well and back home.

(25,896 posts)I am glad they're okay, but it is frustrating. They got tested ASAP, treated, and now are home from halfway around the world -- apparently behaving as though nothing happened. Role modeling better behavior when the situation is this serious just isn't that hard. smh.

(29,122 posts)Should at least follow WHO standards, which arent even conservative enough. Researchers have found live virus in fecal swabs nearly a month after the last symptom.
