Navigating COVID-19 Requires Caution and Attention

Outside of the little town I grew up in was the road shown below. It went from my home town in Southern California to another small town about 20 miles away. At one point, I had a girlfriend who lived in the other town, but my father was opposed to my driving that particular road, which is called Grimes Canyon Road. He had used a tow truck from the place he worked too many times to pull someone's car up from one of the ravines. All too often, the driver was dead or badly injured.

But, my girlfriend lived in the town at the end of that road. After many discussions, my father rode along with me as I drove the road in both directions. I was just 17 years old, and had only been driving for a year. As we drove that road together, my father was giving me advice from the passenger seat. I drove exceedingly carefully, of course. Finally, my father said that I could drive to see my girlfriend. "But," he said, "never forget that inattention when you're driving that road can kill you and your girlfriend, so no cuddling on Grimes Canyon Road!"

My first experience with Social Distancing for safety's sake, I guess.

They misnamed the road. Instead of Grimes Canyon Rd, it should be Grim Canyon Rd. Wow... SWBTATTReg Mar 2020 #1

Getting permission to do so was a rite of passage in my home town.

And I thought driving on the roads down in the Ozarks on a two lane highway (highway 64) with all of its valleys and hills was a nightmare (I laugh when I compare it to your picture).

My fear is coming from the fact that I primarily grew up on the prairies, all flat flat flat. Never saw a hill. It took me a long time to drive any hills w/ any comfort when I got older.

That teen aged boy must have been

important to him .... to take that special

journey to heighten the young man's

awareness for extra caution not to allow

instances which might side track attention

and bring detriment to safety.

The Message: Seek shelter before the

storm rather than during or after.

What were you saying about the

Coronavirus ?

Something trDump should heed.
