Stay-at-home order issued for North Carolina

Gov. Roy Cooper has ordered North Carolina residents statewide to stay at home starting at 5 p.m. Monday.

The order also bans gatherings of 10 or more people, Cooper said during a news conference on Friday afternoon.

Cooper called it “truly a matter of life or death.”

In North Carolina, there are more than 800 cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, in two-thirds of the state’s counties. Four people have died.

1. Just got off the phone with my brother from NC

He didn’t mention this but I think his town, Davidson, was already locked down. I really don’t expect him to survive the year to be honest. He has ALS and is already on a ventilator. Sooner or later he’s going to catch it.

Yes, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh , Durham, Wake were already on lockdown, too

3. I don't really understand the 3 day lag time

Go out and spread the virus all weekend then start the lockdown at 5 pm Monday.

4. I don't either, to be honest. Everything is already closed here, bars, restaurants etc

Unless it has something to do with giving businesses time to make arrangements.

6. Good..I don't know why our governor in VA will not order us to stay at home.

He prefers to say that he suggests it. I think he needs to issue a string order to stay at home. We have over 600 cases here now.
