The fucking lot of you are probably rich. At the least, wealthier than I will ever be in my lifetime and I hope it's a long one, too.
Many of us have done the things you assholes have never done. We've served in the military. We've worked in the medical field, a messy and unforgiving area that those who've never done it will never understand. We're the ones that served you your food, did your laundry, mowed your lawn and cleaned your fucking mansions.
There is a nurse in this country who was diagnosed with Covid-19. When her health turned for the worse, she refused a ventilator because she didn't want to deny someone else. She died.
How many of you fuckers would do that?
You think sacrifice is so easy and you spout off about it as if you know what it means. You don't. It's goddamn meat for your base that you serve for selfish motives.
You want people like me, people like my mother-in-law and father-in-law to die for the fucking economy, to die to make some of you richer. Are you going to come to their funerals and lament about their sacrifice?
Here's one better...
If you're so devoted to the words you're spewing, go work in a Covid-19 ward. Go work in an ICU. Those nurses and doctors aren't working to keep the economy growing. They are putting their lives on the line to save people. They don't have the proper equipment to protect themselves so they make due and then they head into the lions den to battle an invisible enemy. They know it could kill them, but they do it anyways.
That is true sacrifice. That is a true hero. One who is willing to risk their life in order to save others.
This is the depth of character none of you will ever have.

(31,011 posts)I've been so upset about what's happening that I've had to break away from all the madness. It's difficult because I'm self-quarantining at home.
So, it's here and on Facebook where I'm sure to piss off some trumpers on my feed.
I find I don't give a flying shit.

It'll be just like having no prescription coverage. I doubt he'll develop empathy for those who have no medical coverage at all after his career scorning the less fortunate as takers.

(20,870 posts)I was employed by the VA Medical Center when AIDS first appeared.
They knew it was in the blood, they figured that out pretty quick.
I was working in an office with doctors coming in/out all day to get coffee, soup and juice in-between/during surgeries.
We worked anyway, knowing it was in the blood that many had spots of on their surgical gowns.
We went to the blood gas room to get water to make them their coffee and soup.
I just did my job typing up research grants to find a treatment and/or a cure for what became known as AIDS.
This was in 1983 in San Francisco.
Let just one of them do what I did for one day!
No one cared to have the job I had, believe me.
I have relatives that have never had jobs. They've relied on others their entire lives for everything.
I never hear from them as they just want gifts and I just don't have much for gifts these days.
I am disgusted at best and shame on their parents for allowing their children to become the selfish people that they have grown up to be. They learned this behavior from their parents that are of this same ilk btw.
Today, I feel like that are waiting for me to die being I have a serious progressive disease. I never get as much as a Christmas card much less a call as these days I have few gifts to give!
So yeah, I feel you, believe me.

(31,011 posts)I did my share of AIDs care and I lost friends. Nurses were scared shitless. I was a medic in the Army and to watch how paranoid and horrible some got was infuriating.
I decided that would not be me and I would care for those who got this disease through no fault of their own.

(20,870 posts)It seems hemophilia ran in the family.
He had no idea that this would some day KILL his children as about half of them were hemophiliacs.
I remember when his son was dying of AIDS.
He had become psychotic towards the end.
His father, this doctor, continued to come to work every day. I'll never forget that God awful look he had on his face as his children were dying of AIDS.
It was the saddest thing I ever saw in my life!

(9,952 posts)The point is, let grandparents AND parents die. Granted the kids are in the lower end of 20. But, I would like to be around to be a grandparent.

(19,858 posts)This country is rich enough to take care of everyone. the idiot in the white house needs to enact the Defense production action and get the companies that have volunteered (e.g, Tesla) to start building ventilators, making PPE, etc.

(45,442 posts)it's notable that many of us don't have to sacrifice our lives at all. We just have to sacrifice some money temporarily by staying home. And there is trillions in revenue that our government should be using towards keeping people afloat with housing/food/bills during this time instead of massive tax cuts for the rich and wars for the rich.
I know one elderly grandpa who needs to sacrifice his presidency and resign since he's definitely about to lose reelection.

(5,128 posts)the only 'country' that will die is yours. The one where only white rich people live and maintain millions of serfs to work the land and make them more money. The one where the worship of a little green piece of paper is the most important thing there is. That 'country' fucking needs to die, and I will celebrate when it does, because then we can try to get back the 'country' that is mentioned in the Constitution... you know, the one that is ruled by 'The People', not ten billionaires and their lackeys.

I really hope this wakes people up to stop voting the way rich people want them to vote, but I doubt it will.

I noticed that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are both still alive.
It's easy for the young to write off the aged.

Or not.
But it pretty well doesn't come without age.
Other forms of intelligence, yes. But wisdom takes longer.

(11,949 posts)That is the red herring they think the base will buy.
This is all about re-electing Trump. These people are all rich and understand the market and nation will come back.
Even with a booming economy this was going to be a tough election for trump against Biden. Now the economy has crashed and as the very first democratic ads show using his own words, trump has not done nothing to really stop it. So now they are rolling the dice.
If they get the economy humming and convince enough people that all the deaths are worth it and saying so is not deplorable, they think he can still win re-election. Make people believe trump was wise not to take it seriously.
They are wrong. It wont work. Even some of my republican coworkers are off the trump bus. But its all they have left.
If Democrats run the table then they are done by 24. Demographic and religious beliefs are changing fast. Very fast. Already there are more nonbelievers than evangelicals. If they cant spend the next 4 years cementing the courts and election systems then their already minority party is going to shrink to modern day Know Nothings.
