(51,584 posts)By Monday I bet there will be more. The fucking moron won't lock down the country since he wants everyone to suffer, go bankrupt and die since he is a sadist (so are his enablers and cult). Instead we will go even more broke and more people will suffer and die...oh goodie!
We locked down in CA without tanks, however.

(111,243 posts)In congested areas with a disease spreading quickly, they might be necessary but they also need to be reasonably short. Quarantine is different, a sign needs to be posted with the date quarantine is to be lifted . That's how it was done in epidemics in the past and, along with closing crowded indoor venues, it did work.
State lockdown is dumb as hell, most states are rural and small town, where it isn't necessary at all and quarantine is only necessary if a case appears.
Lockdowns are a drastic action and should be an absolute last resort in extreme hot spots, like Williamsburg Village in Brooklyn is looking to be
The problem with this approach is that this virus is going to be with us either until enough people have had it and recovered to provide enough herd immunity or a vaccine is developed to do the same. Can you be locked down for a year or two? I can't. I don't imagine many people out there can, not even rural people with big gardens.
So what's the solution? Common sense, boring self protection, quarantine of the ill, and small, short periods of loalized lockdown when crowded communities are seeing rapid spread.

(51,584 posts)this will affect EVERYONE in a zillion ways and for a long time. That is reality. I doubt a celebrity dying would wake many people up either. I believe some people need to have a loved one die before they wake up and think about what is happening. It will be too late. It is already too late since we are so far behind. And with the fucking moron in charge.....well, I have no words.
