COVID-19 Close casinos?

I haven't seen casinos in the list of stuff to be shut down.

Crowds form, especially in weekends.

Chips go from hand to dealer to hand. Hands are not sanitized between deals or spins.

Slot machines - you are sitting in rows of machines, in chairs, next to other people. Buttons are touched.

The virus stays live for hours while on objects.

Is the problem that there is too much tax revenue or that no one has thought about casinos during the emergency?

didn't read it because I don't go to them, but apparently they're on the radar somehow.

Didn't hear an official word from our Gov.

Indian casinos around here, so they're technically not under state control.

Sorry that is probably horribly insensitive, but I despise casino gambling and casinos in general, and already think most people who go there on any regular basis are stupid. (Or addicts of a stupid behavior, which addiction they caught while being stupid.)

It's tough for the large number of workers that don't have a choice, though.

Everytime they go, “this could be the one”. A virus is not going to stop them. Funny this part of the economy will survive while they watch every other part die on the vine.

so I think people wise up in times like these.

Macau then closed its casinos. They are just now reopening them (slowly).

Things are changing so quickly, but yesterday or the day before in California, casinos were on the exempt list along with Disneyland, and Disneyland closed.

Disney and Broadway both changed their minds within hours of saying they were staying open. I wouldn't be surprised if casinos are soon to close, at least in states that have many cases.

Casinos have a lot of issues, not just the machines but cards, dice and chips, and many people drink while gambling which affects judgment.

Of course, it's stupid and a waste of money-but my age is my excuse- just too old to give a damn anymore- so I allow myself this indulgence. However, both my wife and I usually come back with a cold, stuffed noses, and a cough. I do think we'll stay away from them until this blows over.

I wonder about prisons and jails. Confined spaces with close contact. Seems like it would be a breeding ground for the virus.
