The Legacy of John Roberts

What will history say about a Chief Justice that sat in on probably the most important impeachment in the history of our nation and said nothing?

What will history say about a Chief Justice that permitted a trial to end without witnesses or documents?

How can Roberts sit on the sideline and not involve the Judiciary is such an important case?

His legacy will be that of an impotent fool who thought he was doing the right thing, but really was just watching the Constitution burn and the country dissolve.

I can see it written that Roberts is on the team that saved America along with the rest of the patriots that uncovered the truth of the dems plot against the constitution and America.

It’s being written like that now. The outrage that seemingly exists will be disappeared; nothing to see here folks.

Maybe because the Constitution gives the Senate the sole power in this regard?

People keep looking for a deus ex machina to pop in and keep this from ending exactly the way we've known it would end for well over a year now.

Even if the Senate is the sole power for trials in the Senate.

Your OP implies that Roberts should step in and make up some new standard because we don't like how the Senate is handling the trial. He has no such powers.

...except there has never been an impeachment trial without witnesses.

He is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. I cannot buy the argument that he is useless and has no power to interpret the laws. I would agree those powers are not delineated in the Constitution.

Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo ... Monkeys stand for honesty; giraffes are insincere; and the elephants are kindly -- but they're dumb. Orangutans are skeptical of changes in their cages; and the zookeeper is very fond of rum
