Just in: Parnas attorney @josephabondy has claimed in a new filing that prosecutors have refused to meet with Mr. Parnas and to receive his information regarding Trump, Giuliani, others. Could explain Parnas recent decision to go public. H/t @TomerElk

(4,111 posts)I attended a forum, hosted by Ari Melber, on the Southern District a couple of weeks ago. Guests included several past prosecutors from the district (no not Preet Bharaha) who underlined and emphasized its independence. Guess not so much.

(42,685 posts)He is under indictment in the SDNY. It appears that he wants to meet with them prosecutors to offer them information about Trump, Giuliani, Toensing, diGenova et al. in hopes of cutting a deal. But he's given up his info to the House and its been made public. So what's the incentive for SDNY prosecutors to meet with him?

(111,076 posts)They would have a good case if Barr was not in charge of the DOJ.

(15,276 posts)He said that SDNY would be looking for Parnas to give them information reletive to the crimes with which they have charged him. Parnas apparently doesn't want to give them that info; therefore the SDNY prosecutors aren't interested in anything he has to say at this point.
The same thing happened with Michael Cohen. SDNY wouldn't recommend a lower sentence because Cohen didn't admit to every crime he committed, something SDNY routinely requires of defendants seeking plea deals.
