Too damn many guns!

The sheer number of guns available for purchase, barter, or theft has caused an epidemic of violence that MUST be addressed to stop the carnage.

I am currently serving on a grand jury. As part of that responsibility, I am required to view the awful results of guns (mostly stolen) being used to kill and maim others. It is a sobering window to gang violence and a drug-fueled lethal world.

We will never reduce this carnage without taking first steps. Registration, safe storage, legal liability, and meaningful liability insurance can help. To throw up our hands and surrender is not a rational choice. Let's learn from the rest of the world, where guns don't kill thousands each year.

1. I believe that to choose to live without guns is the more courageous choice.

People who care more about their guns than they do about living fearlessly unarmed try to make the case that they are prepared to defend themselves and their families from harm, but this line of reasoning does not ring true to me.

Do they think the public will see this dystopian display of mouth breathers and think, good for them we need more guns? Or are people reminded of all the mass shootings lately.

then they pump-up the media noise and conspiracy theories about it and low and behold before we know it, there appears a real crisis due to his bullshit and executive orders. Border protection, trade with China and NAFTA come to mind, among others.

So, the laws of probability and statistics say the more guns the public owns, the more accidental shootings and outright rage killings there will be. And so it is true, and crime does not go down but many more people die.

Much of our public has lost its ability to evaluate issues with a clear-headed, rational, and objective stance. Far too many allow others to do their thinking for them (the squawking heads) and those guys know how to trigger emotions and primal reactions.

Their primary purpose is to create a general public that is divided and in constant fear, making us much easier to control and flim-flam folks into voting against their own interest.
