Racist hit-and-run woman also has a history of getting breaks from Iowa's criminal justice system

She was charged with stabbing one boyfriend in the chest in 2017 and, months later, with threatening another with a butcher's knife. She allegedly told her ex-husband during a child custody dispute that she was going to kill him.

Despite accusations of violence and threats and her chronic drug use and mental health problems over the last three years, Nicole Marie Poole Franklin caught several breaks from Iowa's criminal justice system, court records show.

The 42-year-old unemployed white woman, who is also identified in some court and police documents at Nicole Marie Poole, was allowed to stay out of prison and avoid treatment before allegedly hitting a Latino girl and a black boy with her car on Dec. 9.

She was arrested and charged with a hate crime in connection with a disturbance later that same day at a West Des Moines gas station where witnesses told police she called an employee and customers racial epithets.

If she was black, she'd be a "thug". If she was Muslim, she'd be a "terrorist". If she was Hispanic, she'd be "MS-13". But because she is who she is, she "deserved some breaks" instead. She wasn't alone when she drove that car into those kids, everyone who is OK with this racial double standard drove with her.

I would presume the boyfriends were white. Just to clarify that she doesn't seem to have a history of racist incidents for which she was granted leniency.

That the perp would have received harsher punishment for her crimes and drug abuse had she been a minority is a valid argument.

It's not about her racism but the racism of the police who give this type of person a break they would never think of giving to a Black, Muslim or Latino person.

What I disagree with is misinformation. The OP insinuated that the woman perp has a past of racist violence for which she's been given a free pass.

Now I didn't know that one of the boyfriends she stabbed was black.

She's a beneficiary of white privilege in the legal system, but she doesn't appear to have a history of hate crimes until the day that she ran over two children.

Not all of her violence is racist, but she seems like has been given a free pass, and allowed to torment others which culminated in her hit and runs.

The system which allowed her to be a horrible person and not be a check on her sociopathy led to these white nationalist attacks, that's all I am getting at here.

identified as black. Both ex boyfriends refused to testify. Still she admitted to stabbing one and got off with a misdemeanor breach of peace charge. The 2nd boyfriend ended up marrying her. Because both refused to testify when her husband tried to get a restraining order he was refused because there wasn't enough evidence to prove she was a danger. She also did not follow her probation conditions.

This despite admitting to stabbing her ex boyfriend, biting her new boyfriend and threatening to stab him, her drug and alcohol abuse. She was also arrested in 2016 for fleeing the police - her alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.

She should have been in jail. Any one of those things would have landed a minority in jail.

You'd think two would be sufficient to suggest she shouldn't be out in the free world.
