Emmanuel Macron calls for creation of a 'true European army' to defend against Russia and the US

Emmanuel Macron has called for the creation of a “true European army” to allow the EU defend itself from threats ranging from Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin.

The French president has pushed for closer EU defence union since coming to power last year but has been so far met with limited success amid foot-dragging by other member states.

“We have to protect ourselves with respect to China, Russia and even the United States of America,” Mr Macron told France’s Europe 1 radio in an interview.

“When I see President Trump announcing that he’s quitting a major disarmament treaty which was formed after the 1980s Euro-missile crisis that hit Europe, who is the main victim? Europe and its security.”

Just another example of the damage Trump is doing to America's reputation.

He probably knows more than almost anyone ever about war. Wars are so easy to win.

I can't say I blame Macron for taking that stance considering how the stage is being set. However, it is a bad sign, as well.

Putin wants Russia to be a global superpower in the vein of the former USSR (except with him being rich and in power). They are not thrilled about China's rise except that it weakens the United States. He is likely figuring he will deal with that further down the road. If the US continues down the road of where Trump is taking us, then Europe will have no choice but to forge a new alliance.

The bad thing is that absent the explicit protection under American arms, the countries of Europe, whether united or by themselves will feel they need to expand their own arsenals. There will be another powder keg with France, Germany, England, and other countries looking to beef up their military and Russia expanding their own. That kind of thinking is what took the world 2 war in 1914 and again in 1939. With Japan and South Korea thinking that they need to do the same in the Pacific because of China's growing threat and North Korea constantly saber rattling, we are going to see arms races with ever increasing chances of regional war that could spark a global conflagration.

Putin thinks he can manage it, but Russia will be engulfed as well.

The US on the side of a short little Russian mobster. All for stolen wealth and crushing the backs of the workers. Putin has turned Russia into a broken country with a never ending recession for the average Russian, while he collects all the wealth for himself.

A country with the economy of France but with over twice as many people, should not be so economicly stunted. That is what the murdering psycho has in mind to turn the US into with the help of the likes of Bezo, Zuckerberg and Gates.

...world history, of course, but world history is full of wars that last 30 years, a 100 years...

The US was instrumental in preventing a third World War in the latter half of the 20th century. That's a real accomplishment.

But many of the last 2 generations of Americans know all this only as myth, not reality. They know a lot of things that just ain't so, too. Not everyone got stupid and/or greedy; just enough.

And then we installed a traitorous tool, someone who has put the lie to all our promises, and may prove to be our undoing.
