Bolsonaro has conflated wholesale Ecosystem destruction with Brazilian Nationalism. No one gets to tell them how to develop the Amazon. They'll destroy as much rain forest for beef production as they want.

Thunberg's in the way, so of course she gets Ad Hominemed. It's the Nationalist way.

The Earth is fucked.

I keep trying to explain that to people. The Earth will take care of itself once we are out of the way. And it has a long time to do so.

It's the current crop of life that is fucked, including humans.

I heard a comment from Neil deGrasse Tyson recently in which he said that climate change doesn't necessarily mean the end of humankind but it's going to be a living hell to live here.

Of course, no species has endured throughout Earth's history. One day, humans will be gone. But the Earth will continue circling the Sun for about another 8 billion years until the Sun expands and engulfs our planet. During that time, other life-forms will rise from the chemistry of our planet. Hopefully, they'll be better stewards than humans have been.

Please excuse my shorthand; conflating the flora and fauna of the planet with the planet itself. I am aware they are different.
