(102,236 posts)Anyone else had more close calls with cars lately? I actually think pedestrian crosswalks (especially at stoplights) are the worst. Many cities have record numbers of pedestrian strikes and frankly, turn right on red seems to be a large part of it. People just frequenly don't look right when turning right.

(15,715 posts)a little bit as I drove my worn out piece of junk Geo in to work from outside Perryville. (about 30 miles). Not a bad trip, all things considered until a Big black Suburban (Probably 4WD also) blaring its horn flying around me on the 2 lane. I was going a respectable speed of about 20 MPH considering the ice and snow and wind.
I kept chugging along when I looked to the right and saw a lot of pine trees shaking.
No I did not pull off the road. It was way too icy to stop any way.. I got into work with a smile on my face.

(126 posts)I am now in the habit of referring to our current commander-in-chief as the president*. And that's the least important takeaway I get from your daily column. Get well soon! Democracy needs voices like yours.
