Pomona, Scripps, Pitzer, Harvey Mudd and Claremont McKenna colleges. When I went to Pitzer, the Harvey Mudd and Pomona football team (it took both colleges to muster up a team) played CalTech in the Rose Bowl in a regular division game. There were maybe 300 spectators in a 100,000 seat arena.

At that time, all students were required to live on campus so the town wasn’t overwhelmed by students.

a fairly conservative area, except for particularly one part of town where many retired missionaries and ministers live. THAT part is a hot bed of liberal progressives. (One townie was getting in to his Humvee, and quipped "I look at the signs on the lawns over in THAT neighborhood, and then vote for the other guy!" )

At first I thought they were trying to protect the statues from vandals and angry atheists.

But then I remembered how Dumpy Trumpy and his Slovenian sex worker like the concentration camps for children.

It's fine w me if that particular church can continue to avoid paying taxes for ..
oh, say ... an 3 extra years no matter how they change the tax code.

There really are a few good eggs here and there in those institutions.

I went to a committee meetng today about how our local congregation can help the church' s national body with its legal and humanitarian aid st the border. Longer range hope is to work with other.progressive denominations in the community whose national bodies also have refugee and immigration aid programs to increase effectiveness.
