1. Religion is based on total fiction

2. Christians treat the fictions of their religion as if it is truth

3. Their treating religious fictions as fact predispose them to treat other fictions as fact

4. The are open to following people whose claim that fiction is fact because such claims mirror the pretzel they contort themselves into in believing their religious fictions are fact

5. They are equally open to believing fact is fiction (fake news) - the flip side of the belief-in-fiction coin

6. This all leads to the conceit that they are privy to a “secret truth” that god allows only the true believers to know. Science and other facts are easy to reject when they lie outside the secret truth that is shared only with the true believers.

Having said that I agree with you that racism and misogyny are the main factors...

...really much different than the non-evangelical Republicans. It's the racism, stupid.

Without racism alone (much less sexism, homophobia, etc.), the Republican Party would cease to be viable.

Not saying that Jesus the carpenter wasn't a good cabinet maker...

I've known too many people with too few skills that get themselves into a church and essentially beg for money.

Charlatan is a far, far more accurate definitive term.

The Charlatan Right has a nice ring to it.......

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlatan

A charlatan (also called a swindler or mountebank) is a person practicing quackery or some similar confidence trick or deception in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception. Synonyms for "charlatan" include "shyster", "quack", or "faker".
