What happens when there are no more career people in the foreign services?

If not for these individuals, people would be completely clueless about the real state of affairs in our government.
The erosion of our departments and systems is very alarming to put it mildly. Trump is becoming more dangerous by the minute.
I never wanted to believe this level of craven soullessness could ever be allowed to occupy enough power to destroy the world.

whose "skills" have given us nearly seventy-five years of no-win wars, where we use US money to do "nation building" in places that blow up every ten or fifteen years, while neglecting our nation?

Some folks probably don't find that too threatening.

employees have done for this country for the last three-quarters of a century, besides handing out money to people to stop fighting temporarily.

We're not going to run out of bureaucrats any time soon, surely anyone entering the profession knows that the Trump administration will not last forever.

Customerservice guy and I have had our recent differences on another topic.

I saw only competent well-informed civil servants at the recent hearings. And these people don't make policy, they make recommendations. Often, the politicians override their expert opinions.

As sad as our history in foreign relations have been, the Trump Administration is ample evidence that we can do much worse.

1) Many liberal folk looking for Government service careers will not apply to work in an insane Administration.

2) Many competent people already in place will leave their posts out of frustration. (Mick Mulvaney expressed this as an intentional strategy to remove liberal Government employees).

3) Many RW nutjobs will be drawn to working in a Government service position that they see as ideologically compatible with their values.
