"success isnt about how much money you make. Its about the difference you make in peoples lives."
Yes! She's said what I've thought of since some time ago. Success shouldn't be about just making money, which is seemingly how this country is nowadays. Success should be based on how much of a difference you make in others peoples lives and in society. This country has for so long gotten it backwards and of which only promotes selfishness, greed, snobbery and competitiveness (who has the most expensive toys for instance.) Success based on making a difference in other people's lives promotes generosity, goodness, kindness, caringness, and brings out the best in people. True success based on making a difference in other people's lives and in society should be rewarded in America, not on how much money one makes.

(153,314 posts)I remember reading a book about outliers some time ago - consistently the author measured success by, for example, people becoming doctors or lawyers. Well there are a lot of shitty doctors, and lots of shady lawyers. Why wouldn't a teacher who consistently positively influcenced his or her students be a success? Or a nurse whose compassion helps people to heal? It would appear the author thinks money equals success, which is about as accurate as education equalling intelligence.
