Dr Hill's testimony reminded me of an incident:

Many years ago I was an audience member at a panel discussion which included Margaret Mead who was renowned cultural anthropologist. Her “adversary” on the panel was this brash young man whose theories were counter to Dr Mead’s. At one point he was raising his voice to her and she put up her hand and said “You needn’t scream at me. Whatever you are going to say or have said is utter nonsense. I, however, am speaking from competence.”

He just froze, looked down, and was essentially silent after that.

I was gobsmacked by her ability to speak extemporaneously, so eloquently, and authoritatively at length.

For my entire life, I've only been able to muster a sentence or two at a time... and then I lose my train of thought. She was very, very impressive.

I waited to hear her through and found that she's brilliant. She may take a paragraph and a sentence or two, to get to her point but she ties it all together and even flipped some questions from the Trump defender's side of the bench and tied their tongues! They could not respond!

And, like she said during the hearing and CNN is reporting on this morning, she expertly spelled out that the Trump administration's theory that Ukraine attacked our elections in 2016 was in-fact a Putin initiated conspiracy theory that it was Ukraine and in doing so, republicans are only furthering Putin's alibi that it was not Russia that attacked our elections and preparing to do the same for the 2020 elections, ummm less than a year from now!

I was really impressed. She comes across as calmly self-assured and entirely confident in the truth and morality of her testimony.

He was a short man who had been in the army, not sure if that was the cause or not. I called him on it very early in our relationship. I told him that I was raised in a family that spoke in calm normal tones except when there was danger or some other kind of emergency. I said if he was going to holler (I am from the south) every time he spoke, I would just walk away.

He stopped it cold in my presence. No one has ever called him on it from the family.

He really seemed to like me.

but frequently it does work well.

I have always been a bit up-front and not afraid to speak my mind when necessary. I think I have better relations with those confronted than do my other family members who have suffered in silence.

As a retired Navy officer I would probably explain it as hearing loss. Just about anyone who has been in the military for any length of time, comes out with some amount of hearing damage.

But it doesn't mean he can't control it.
