(7,392 posts)Any reasonable person has to wonder what our world would be like if he had been a two term President and we had become more conscious of our energy uses.

(54,256 posts)"Mah name is Jimmah Cahter and Ah'm runnin' for president."
He opened most of his campaign rallies with those words.
It usually got a big laugh.
I shook his hand.
It was at campaign speech he gave in Birmingham in 1975.
His speech was mainly about loving and caring for each other and it brought me to tears.
Afterwards, when we had all filed outside, my 5 year old daughter was sitting on my shoulders so she could see over the crowd.
When he was near us she yelled "HEY JIMMY!" and waved at him.
He grinned at her and came to us through the crowd.
"Hey honey. Are you voting for me?"
"My daddy is."
He laughed and shook our hands.
What a good man.

(1,639 posts). . Or lost at something. . .or even if you have endured some dreadful embarassment--Think about Jimmy Carter and what he felt when he lost the election to Reagan.
Then think about what he went on to do with his life.
When the presidental door closed for Carter, he didn't even wait for God to open a window. He built some windows for himself!
