A girl can dream, can't she?

My fantasy scenario: Trump and Pence are removed. Nancy Pelosi becomes president.

The next day, Hillary Clinton is elected Speaker. Pelosi resigns the presidency effective immediately.

President Hillary Rodham Clinton is sworn in. She runs for and wins two full terms, becoming the second longest serving President in American history.

It ain't gonna happen.

Sorry.

I dream, too. But it won't happen.

I'll be happy if Trump leaves office in disgrace. Then we'll begin the big fix because our country is seriously broken.

If something like that would occur we would just have another 8 plus years of Partisan Insanity and rancor from the right. We as Democrats need to figure out a way to go high in the next 8 years and elect someone who can tone down the crazy and find common ground not encourage it. I'm honestly not sure how we do that. I assume most of you all, like me are majorly pissed off with what the Republicans have been pulling, since Reagan. My dream is we take back the Senate, keep the House and elect a Democratic President who can lead and communicate clearly to the American People that our party is ready to do the work to move us forward as a country without having to be weighed down with stupid grudges and hostilities.

Goes to show you...one persons dream can quickly become anothers nightmare...

Pelosi chooses Hilliary as VP and together they serve 16 years.

What I really dream, though, is that modern “conservatism” is so completely disgraced and voted out it never resurfaces in my lifetime.

The result. And if Trump were impeached, pence would quickly select a veep to stop Pelosi. I think we need to pass a law that a veep, prez due to predecessors impeachment, can't pick a veep because it interferes with the constitutions preferred line of succession.

A new president's selection of VP can't interfere with the Constitution, because it's IN the Constitution

Congress can't pass a law making it invalid because it's a constitutional requirement.

And, FYI, until both houses of Congress approve the vice president selection, Pelosi remains first in the line of succession.

The Constitution was amended to provide for filling a vacant vice presidential seat because, Kennedy's assassination reminded everyone that the position remained empty until the next presidential election and that could be a problem. It wasn't a big issue in 1963 because there was just a little over a year left in Kennedy's term. But it could prove to be a serious problem in the future should a vacancy occur earlier in the term - as, for example, occurred with Agnew's resignation.

Having the speaker next in line as a stop cap makes sense but it also makes sense to give the president an opportunity, with the advice and consent of Congress, to replace their vice president. For example, if God forbid, something it happened to All Gore in early 1997, would we have wanted Newt Gingrich breathing down President Clinton's neck for the next 4 years?

Now, please get out of my dream.
