Knowing the history of the Romney family, I have a theory.

Last edited Mon Sep 3, 2012, 12:44 PM - Edit history (1)

The US has always been know as a melting pot, people from other countries have come here and want to come here to have a better life.

Not so with the Romney's; they are the opposite. Mitt's grandfather fled the US because he didn't want to live by the laws of the United States of America.

He fled Mexico because he wanted to have more than one wife; he wanted to do as his religious views dictated and live a life of polygamy. Mexico was chosen as the preferred home of the Romney's over the US.

George Romney was raised in this family environment; his father, raised him to hate the US. This explains his statement about being forced out of Mexico; he didn't choose to come back to the US. How could he not be bitter?

Now comes Mitt, whose father didn't want to live in the US, but then decided to run for public office when Mitt was young. One has to wonder his motivation for doing so. To change what his family hated about the US? Mitt was raised by this man, who has influenced his attitudes and beliefs; passing down the bitterness and hatred to his son.

Considering all of this, there may be validity in questioning if Mitt really is loyal to the US and it may explain his cut throat business practices and obsession with becoming president.

Dare I say that the Romney family has a deep hatred of the US, specifically the federal government, that has been passed down through generations?

Dare I say that Mitt has never felt patriotic or a sense of belonging to the US?

Dare I say that Mitt wants to be president to ruin the US and avenge his family?

Yes I do.

why no one in the Romney family ever fought FOR the US, at anytime in 4 generations.
No Romney has ever worn the uniform of any of the armed forces of the United States.

(relatively speaking), being immigrants from Europe in the mid-late 1800s. They didn't waste much time before heading off to Mexico, either, so he has little in the way of established historical roots in the US.

Loyalty to the very concept of a United States of America could very well be an issue with him.

Of course I am comparing him to somebody like me, where almost every branch of my family goes back to New England in the 1600s and early 1700s, and I have lost count of how many of my ancestors fought in the Revolution.

So your idea does make one wonder........

What scam, pay no taxes, but, take advantage of every social program and assistance available. Oh,by the way, they are all white anglo-saxon. They do donate to only GOP causes.

whether it's about the President or horrible Mitt. I don't even care anymore if it's tongue in cheek.

And anyone who says george romney hated the U.S. is fucking ignorant- or stupid.

This is nothing but birtherism politics.

Revolting. Disgusting. And most of all:

Stupid.

I have a right to explore the possibility and think out loud; you do not have the right to attack me personally.

America. He was a much better man than his son. He was a moderate to liberal Republican (wouldn't fit in the modern GOP at all).

Nor is there any evidence that Mitt Romney's greed has anything to do with a "deep hatred of the US," or that he "wants to be president to ruin the US and avenge his family."

I have a right to think out loud here, and there is a very real possibility there's truth to what I've said.

There isn't any evidence the Romney family cares much about the US and its people either.

They see themselves as Mormons first and reluctant Americans second.

Remember Mormons moved out of the United States to create their own nation - Deseret. They had their own language, laws, and money. They only became Americans again at the point of a gun.

in fact, the more extreme your hatred and rhetoric, probably the more you will be supported.

Why would you assume that either George, or his father, Gaskell, hate America? People can love the country and yet hate the federal government.

Further, since I am related to Mitt's mother, the rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels call Lenore, it is absurd to call him an anchor baby. On his mother's side, he has American ancestors going back to Nathaniel White 1652 of Hadley, Massachusetts and Henry Wolcott, Jane Allyn, Moses Loomis and Joana Gibbs all born in the 1670s in Connecticut.

But it is certainly true that the policies that he proposes will not be good for America. At least the budgetary policies.

It sounds like the mirror-image of Birtherism: 'Obama's middle name is Hussein and his father came from Kenya; therefore he's a secret Muslim who hates America!' This sounds like the same sort of thing about Romney.

There are many reasons why Romney would be a bad president for his country and have a terrible influence on the world at large: e.g. that he is a selfish bullying idiot who has NO diplomatic skills whatsoever (as amply demonstrated in his trip to London!); whose policies only favour the rich; and who can't even look after his dog properly so how could he look after a country? But I don't think it's necessary to bring in his ancestors' travel and emigration history, or his religion.
