The Kremlin twists the knife on collapse of US/Turkey relationship, mocks Trump/Erdogan "letter".

Erdogan threw the letter in the garbage can (I read someplace).

It’s normal language for trump. They aren’t lying, this is who he is; it’s who he always has been. And he’s deteriorating rapidly. The R Senators know this is going on as he continues to destroy our country. They must help remove this madman from power before we lose our country.

This is a letter that I truly believe Trump wrote from beginning to end. He writes as the President and uses “I” six times. Other than proofreading and cleaning up the grammatical errors, it’s definitely Trumpian.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Kremlin on Thursday questioned the tone of a letter sent by U.S. President Donald Trump to his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan, which it called highly unusual for correspondence between heads of state.

The White House on Wednesday released the Oct. 9 letter, in which Trump urged Erdogan: “Don’t be a tough guy” and “Don’t be a fool!” ................................

As The Atlantic put it, on Sunday "democracy was on the ballot in Poland and had a stinging defeat that will have consequences far beyond the country’s borders." With the same kind of help Putin gave us, of course.

After Poland, No Democracy Is Safe. In the age of populism, certainty about the political future is a dangerous illusion.

As examples of many other populist governments, from nearby Hungary to faraway Venezuela, show, it is often in their second term in office that populist leaders manage to take full control, intimidating critics and eliminating rival power centers. In this election, the chances of the opposition were already somewhat restricted by a deeply hostile media environment. With the government now holding enough power to institute further anti-democratic reforms, it is likely that it will become ever harder for the opposition to do its work. ...

But it’s not only Poles who will suffer the repercussions. The European Union is founded on a set of shared democratic values and built on the assumption that all of its member states will (by and large) continue to adhere to them.

The U.S. has populist movements, very large on the right, smaller on the left, which our intelligence services say Putin wants to unite and turn against our government. And much of our major media is both owned and deeply infiltrated by RW, anti-liberal elements, including the AP and NYT. Our intelligence services report that two of our Democratic primary candidates, one a populist leader, are being promoted by Putin, with not just tacit, quiet acceptance by the candidates themselves but an electorate who don't seem to understand or care.
