Really good deal and these workers get to share in the wealth that their labor creates. All workers should demand this, there are few workers who get a fair share of the wealth that their labor creates.

by demanding that US plants are dedicated to gas and diesel powered trucks and SUV. Not sure that was a good decision

it is in their interest to have the US plants only producing gas and diesel powered vehicles, to ensure there are more UAW employees working.
That was one of their demands during bargaining; not clear if that is part of the proposed contract or not.
