NBC News: Just now, @senatemajldr confirms he WILL hold a trial in the senate

Garrett Haake ✔ @GarrettHaake

Just now, @senatemajldr confirms he WILL hold a trial in the senate if House sends over impeachment articles. Says senate will sit for 6 days/week, senators aren’t allowed to speak (“good therapy” for some, he jokes). Senate will follow its constitutional duties.

OK - warm your behinds up on all those bills you're sitting on. Then Patience, patience because THAT iron's not yet HOT enough to steam your creases.

So really he’s making it seem like he’s “doing the right thing” when it’s not even up to him.

This is the Repugs best approach politically. If they try to restrict the presentation of the evidence, the public will disapprove. So they'll pretend to look at all the evidence open-mindedly before they vote not to convict.

They'll admit that Trump did something wrong, but they'll say that it's not bad enough to warrant removing him from office.
