The crate throwing seems to be more of a stupid protest than a virulent attack. Blue_true Oct 2019 #3
By "rising tensions" you mean anti-Semitic attacks in which Jews, mostly men, are assaulted. Igel Oct 2019 #4
Yes, some of that. But there have been incidents where Blacks were victims. Blue_true Oct 2019 #5

It was ethnically driven, but not of the nature of rightwing shooters attacking the synagogue.

It is distressing to see that the kids were Black, but there has been rising tensions between ultra-orthodox Jewish people and Blacks for several years.

We hear of an uptick in anti-Semitic attacks. These attacks contribute to that uptick in numbers.

There were cases where convoys for ultra-orthodox rabis have driven through Black areas without much apparent regard for the safety of pedestrians. All it takes is one such incident, then a Black person that has ethnic animus use that as a reason why certain Jewish people need to be attacked, it is unjust as hell to the victims, but they were the most accessible.

What happens is thoughtlessness on either side fuels racists and those racists attack innocent people. What should happen is community leaders on both sides should work collaboratively to tamp down mistrust and isolate people that are prone on harming someone just because of what they look like.
