I want Trump, Pence, the whole Cabinet, and all the judges Trump appointed - especially Gorsuch and Kavanaugh - to resign on the same day, and in this order:
All lower-court judges at the same time
Gorsuch and Kavanaugh
All appointees below the rank of Cabinet Secretary
All Cabinet Secretaries
Mitch McConnell
Pence
Trump
All this over the span of five minutes.
This prevents any possibility of pardons being issued. We will then install Speaker Pelosi as president with Hillary Clinton as VP, and bring back Obamas Cabinet.
At that point we have real investigations and prosecutions.

(2,785 posts)but there is zero possibility of that happening. Therefore I want impeachment.

(6,228 posts)the fact that impeachment support is only 30 some percent? The rest of the country wants him voted out. The Dems took over the House by rep candidates winning in red districts. Pelosi is trying to protect their seats. Pelosi is a master of political strategy. Sometimes things are not as simple as it looks.

(50,557 posts)Let's say Speaker Pelosi were to name Hillary her VP and then resign from the presidency. Would she be able to get her speakership back immediately, or would she have to stand in the special election (which she'd win easily) and then petition for reinstatement as speaker?
The Founding Fathers never really anticipated this degree of absolute corruption.

(53,410 posts)But theres probably no precedent for exactly that to happen. Chances are, because no one knows, that she would go back to being Speaker as well as Congresswoman of California.

(19,834 posts)I don't know if any other legislation changed that. The whole concept has been a constitutional ping pong ball.

(50,557 posts)My question is about what happens if:
1. Speaker Pelosi assumes presidency because the two stooges both step down.
2. President Pelosi names Hillary Clinton as her VP.
3. President Pelosi then steps down, making VP Clinton president.
Our first problem is the Founding Fathers never anticipated that a career criminal who's under the control of the enemy would rise to the highest office in the land, so they never left any guidance on what to do if it happened. Since we're kinda on our own here, my personal recommendation would be to boil the motherfucker in oil as a warning to the others.

(56 posts)What possible legal mechanism would bring about the mass resignation of judges and Executive and Congressional Republicans?
Impeachment in the House is at least under the Democratically controlled House of Representatives. Requires zero Republican votes.

(26,290 posts)something which is more likely which is investigations, trials and imprisonments for a number of Trump people once Trump is out of office.
Granted he could try to pardon them but if he does we need to hope that SCOTUS throws them out as the act of a criminal trying to protect other criminals and himself.

(498 posts)That wasn't the line?
You weren't feeling this way until *now*?
This is what I don't understand.
All over the place people are getting upset NOW.
But children being put in prison and newborns taken from their babies wasn't enough to make them upset.
I don't understand why, on a daily basis, this is not being screamed across every social media network.
THEY TOOK BABIES FROM THEIR MOMS.

(50,557 posts)And some of us here have been wanting Trump gone since he started on his crime spree.
The thing is, this is big enough of an atrocity we might start getting Republican support for removing the bastard.

(1,208 posts)All members of the federal judicial system appointed by a traitor must resign and reapply for their position. or else be impeached and permanently removed from office.
Come 2020, Lord willing.
This is an eminently reasonable demand, if I say so my own self.
