"House Democrats send the clear signal that ANYONE from the WH can slap them, spit on the floor,

and effectively say, “Fuck you.”

Never Trumper Rethug Rick Wilson's take on today's hearing (it's not pretty).

snipped:

"It’s not about Corey. It’s about the total inability of the House majority to get down to nut-cutting. It’s about the only line of defense in a threatened democracy being manned by a group of people who don’t understand that until you cause Trump’s minions actual pain, with penalties and consequences, they will act with impunity. They know the rules of the show, and Democrats don’t.

Team Trump won the day because Democrats failed to provide a comparable show.Taking Lewandowski’s abuse and contempt and grinding through an endless series of dull questions is pathetic television, and Americans are conditioned to respond only to exciting television.

That’s why the Democrats should have adopted the “Sergeant at Arms, take that man into custody” strategy. Power is held by those who use it; it’s always a depreciating asset. A surly, arrogant Lewandowski taken into custody over the contempt and deception shown to a co-equal branch of government would be great entertainment and the kind of shock politics the Democrats need to break through.

By the way, I don’t care about the lack of recent precedent or the legality of “Sergeant at arms, take that man into custody.” I care about the drama and the visual.

This is where the whole “IMPEACH!” crowd falls down. It’s hard to see how House Democrats could carry out some deus ex machina impeachment miracle when they can’t even handle a low-grade thug like Lewandowski. Democrats need to up their game, and fast. The audience is watching."

Wilson entered the political arena by campaigning for Connie Mack during the 1988 Florida Senate election. He later served on George H. W. Bush's campaign as Florida field director. Wilson was also a presidential appointee to the Department of Defense under then Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney.

In 1994, Wilson joined a Florida media firm, where he created Pollie-award winning ads for Rudolph Giuliani during the 1997 New York City mayoral election. In 1999 Wilson moved to New York City where he initially worked at City Hall, and then later campaigned for Giuliani during the 2000 New York Senate election.

After he's done, only about three Dems should be allowed to ask anything. Period.

The Sergeant-at-Arms should be called, and Nadler better quash any bullshit uproar from the Republicans at every damn session.

I hear people I know say that they think a debacle is inevitable.

Nadler better up HIS game with tough, tight, sessions that take no bullshit answers.

Or Americans won't buy this oath of office stuff any longer.

advice to Dems on what Dems should do more than you trust actual Democrats?

That's interesting. And I imagine sharing this is very helpful to someone - not Democrats, but someone.

Among other things, the whole point of the Sergeant-at-Arms "taking that man into custody" is to bring him to the committee to testify. If that man is sitting in the hearing room testifying, there's no point in taking him into custody.

The internet has many benefits, but one of its detriments is that it allows people with no experience and no legal training to read just enough about various legal concepts and procedures to think "Hey, that sounds like a good idea!" and then spread it all over social media, throwing in just enough fancy terms to sound like they know what they're talking about.

I really wish there was a way to ban anyone without a law degree or significant experience working in a senior position on a Congressional committee from discussing "inherent contempt" in public since most of the people talking about it don't have the first clue about what it is and how it does and doesn't work.

Anyone claiming that "precedence and legalities" should take a backseat to "drama and the visual" is a Trump-emulating fool. Rick Wilson needs to sit down, STFU and stop spewing his ignorance out to the world.

Dreading the someone starts sharing Joe Walsh's campaign messages on DU, because he HATES Trump, and trashes Democratic leaders that are irritating them.
