An individual just hired in our department had no clue she needed her laptop to be in the docking station for it to display on her monitors. Wondered why her monitors were not on when her laptop was in her car.

If you havent seen them, your stick your laptop onto them and it connects to peripheries like monitors, printers. But the dock is just a connection; no computing power of its own.

(7,861 posts)...you've probably spent more time complaining about the problem on these forums than the few seconds it would have taken to simply explain the situation to the new coworker.
Life is hard enough without people giving you shit over something as trivial as this -- just be a compassionate coworker and help the new person out.
