I liked it much better than the normal show. With live audience participation, you could get a better feeling for how people react to different situations and current events, rather than just the opinion of various MSNBC commentators and guests.
I would love to see Rachel do the same thing, although her narrative may not fit in well with that type of show.
The other thing I would like to see MSNBC do is vary the news coverage. Once you see one of the early shows, the rest pretty much follow the same agenda. There ARE other news stories happening in the world beyond Trump's tweets and idiotic moves. Also, so much coverage of the 2020 election is overkill, at this point in time, as we have so far to go to the election and I'm afraid the common person who would normally vote will get early burnout and not show up when it's important.
I'd love to hear what other DUrs think about this new concept.

(53,410 posts)Rachel said as much and I agree wholeheartedly!
He could do hour segments on the children in cages. On climate change, on the water in Flint and now in New Jersey. He could do so much on issues if he made his show strictly humanitarian and political. Really dig in.

Hayes is changing the format of news to attract young viewers, which can't help but reflect the new voter demographic Rachel Bitecofer says is out there.
Hayes himself is a good listener, doesn't need to be "the show."
I hope he does this every week.

(61,807 posts)The live audience was a nice touch, but I'm not sold on it as a regular feature. Let's see how it goes next Friday.

(7,573 posts)Chris seemed more alive and did very well in this format. the audience was energetic, the guests fantastic, and I loved the video wall. I can't wait until next Friday when he will be in New York using the same format.
