Fox melt down happening now

“We are just all learning of this at the same time, but the best I can tell, the American president can’t order U.S. companies how they’re going to do their sales and where they’re going to have their supply chains,” Wallace lectured. “We have a free-market capitalist system.”

“I don’t think the president can order a car company to move some of its factories from one place to another,” he continued. “He could impose tariffs or make it economically untenable, but he can’t sit there and order the CEO of the board — and my guess is most people in this country wouldn’t want to see the president be able to do this.”

Noting Trump’s inflammatory comments about Powell, calling him a “enemy” and comparing him to China’s leader Xi Jinping, Wallace said the president’s comments about one of his own appointees were concerning.

“We have to drill down on the statement, who was a bigger enemy to this country? The head of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell who was appointed by President Trump, or Chinese president Xi?” Wallace asked.

He later asked, “When you have the president of the United States sort of flailing around this way and ordering companies to move back to the U.S. and saying that the head of the Federal Reserve is the enemy of the country, is that going to create more consumer confidence about the state of the economy or not?"

He's ordering US companies to stop doing business with China. (Does he also mean Ivanka????)

He's ordering "carriers" to refuse all shipments of Fentanyl (he includes Amazon in there with UPS and FedEx and the Post office... idiot).

He really does think he has taken control of US businesses.

Dow Jones is down 460 right now. Hmm, surprise, investors don't actually want a president seizing control of US businesses, or threatening to.

snorted all the adderall left in the medicine cabinet, someone on the White House staff will tweet -- as Trump -- a retraction/explanation along the lines of:

"Fake News claims I want to force American companies to come back to America and stop making things in China. That is not true -- FAKE NEWS!! --- What I said was that American companies should get on board with my message, the message that all Americans agree with, that everyone is in this fight together, that China's malfeasance can be corrected only if we remember that. But its up to them if they love America or not. I think most of them love America and expect they will come back to American soil. But if they don't, it's their right to stay in China. But I will make sure every American patriot knows the companies I'm talking about.

Also, Jeremy Powell is not a willful enemy of America, but he's hurting us all, maybe unintentionally, maybe not. He should go, regardless, because he is incompetent, however."

Or something like that.

This fiat by tweet smells like stock manipulation and a shakedown for campaign contributions. Extortion to bring political opponents to heel and confederates to payout.

By now, he and his advisors should darn well know the consequences of his Twitter fingers on the markets. He and all of his market guys, billionaire buddies, know he can dump stocks on a whim. Sooo, I'd like to know who in his circle owns/shorted those stocks or associated plays. Good grief, he tanked the market, after Powell sort of smoothed things over. When does willful idiocy become premeditated manipulation?

Trade wars are easy he said. Tell that one again to the retired teacher trying to transfer funds and chose the wrong day to sell some of their modest portfolio. Tell that lie again to the farmers losing their shirts.

And he signalled that he wants companies to dragnet deliveries for fentanyl, as if there aren't limitations and screens for the stuff already in place. Seems this is the sort of thing that needs to be searched at the ports...amirite, Cocaine Mule Moscow Mitch? But no, that wouldn't have the same effect as his chilling chaos-making upon corporate free speech money.

Our capitalist system has become so corrupt that it's wrapped itself around, and is eating its tail, and turning into corporate/nationalist socialism. The free hand of the market? Ha. Yeah right, increasingly it's more like the little orange fingers in the market jerking everyone around. The mess of it didn't start with him, or the Citizens United decision, but have been accelerants for the economic cynicism and corruption that lead to payola over real value creation.

(Please note, I've used some hyperbole and taken liberties with terms like payola instead of using 'rent seeking' because I believe it has greater, more immediate artful meaning to more people. I'm not entirely comfortable describing the current state of our capitalistic system as corporate nationalist socialist, but I'd argue it has features of such. Mostly, that paragraph echoes in-person conversations I've had with family members who've been trained to view Democrats as mooching socialists. I made at least one of them blush, and maybe think twice about their certainty on the matter.)

64. Is Trump advocating the United States become a socialist nation?
Fri Aug 23, 2019, 07:45 PM
Aug 2019

Here is the definition of socialism:
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

The United States community is represented by the government, thus the government must be socialistic if it directs how and where businesses operate.

This is not simple regulation to insure fairness in a business's operation, or to insure good, wholesome food, or safe products, or environmental protection.

The intent of this is to directly control the means of production.
And so we have another attempted power grab by Trump, albeit an absurd one.

Absurdity, thy name is Trump.
