I couldn't care less about the candidates or the issues, I'm really not even interested in the candidate's name that I will be voting for.
My only focus is voting for the candidate running against Trump, whoever that candidate may be.
Now if I heard a candidate say that his or her first order of business as President would be to ensure that Trump is held accountable for his crimes and goes to prison if convicted, that would make me very interested.

(31,109 posts)one candidate wont do universal healthcare and the other will?
How mature, adult and rational of you.
But seriously there will be people, lots of em who will NOT vote for anybody but one person and if we lose they are why.

(11,097 posts)I had to tell her that I could not vote for her unless she publicly repudiated Trump. She argued - truthfully - that the position was strictly ministerial and the political party was largely irrelevant. My reply was that running as a Republican carried with it the presumption that she was a Trumpster and therefore a racist, homophobe, etc. - a presumption she needed to affirmatively deny. Of course, she would not.
We have not spoken since.

(11,097 posts)But she wants the racists and homophobes to think she is one of them. That's bad enough.

(115,681 posts)Once that's done we can fix the other things, but I really don't give a crap about debates over Medicare for All (which will never happen anyhow) vs. ACA improvements. I know that all of the candidates are in favor of some kind of universal health care system, combatting climate change, women's reproductive freedom, and all the other things the Democratic Party represents. But we have no chance of getting any of those things if Trump is re-elected; as it is, it will take the new president's entire first term, or longer, just to repair the damage.

(51,585 posts)and this is unusual. Normally Dems vote in the primaries for the issues closest to their hearts and the presidential election is where they vote to defeat the GOP candidate. This year the majority of Dems are going straight to whoever has the best chance to beat tRump, the issues come after that. GOOD!

(22,569 posts)The absolute job #1 is to beat Trump and beat him decisively if possible. No excuses, no pouting or purity tests, just vote for the candidate of the Democratic Party.

(3,321 posts)I do care about issues and policy, but that takes a back seat to winning and defeating the orange butt discharge lunatic. I will vote for the democratic candidate without hesitation. If I am on my deathbed come November 2020, I will vote absentee ballot. If I have already died, someone here must find another eligible voter to cast a ballot for the democratic nominee.

(12,533 posts)Prior elections, there were disputes galore about different issues that had some take their ball and go home. THIS election is totally different.

(51,585 posts)She said that during THIS election voters are voting for who they think has the best chance to beat the Racist Rapist and not for a candidate who shares your values about certain issues and policies.
