Ive been hearing from the bobble-heads all afternoon that Trump was ecstatic over the way the hearings went.
Well, I just watched Trumps Chopper Chat and he is obviously pissed-off. He kept calling the reporters there the fake news, and called their questions dumb.
He kept reverting back to witch-hunt, and insisting this entire Russia thing was a hoax, and that Mueller had absolutely no facts to base his findings on.
It seemed obvious from his demeanour and attitude that he is far from ecstatic in fact, he looked rather shaken. If he honestly was the least bit joyful about todays events, he sure didnt show it quite the opposite; he was surly, combative, and downright nasty. Thats not the way a man who thinks he just won a victory acts.

(9,500 posts)So that they still had access (whatever that is worth, cause it's not like being able to ask a question at an administration press conference is going to get you the truth).
But it seems like some in the MSM are just like Republicans and no longer really care about the facts or truth- just how many clicks that some controversial starement generates.

(297,703 posts)I watched his helicopter pad news spiel. The man couldn't stand still for two seconds, he kept pacing. He said. FACT! That the Dems were going to lose 2020. If I were a reporter I would have asked him how he knew that...was it because he said unequivocally that he would once again accept Russian help? My guess is yes.

(27,818 posts)No surprise there. I was commenting on the "he's very happy with the way things went" meme the media kept promoting all afternoon.
The man I saw talking to the press less than a half hour ago was NOT happy - he was obviously very pissed-off. Even his usual cries of 'fake news', 'witch-hunt', and 'hoax' were delivered without conviction, and without his usual bravado.

(18,486 posts)Just frustrated with the "Democrats are screwed no matter what they do" media frame.
And based on what you saw, even their "Trump behaving like he's happy means the Democrats messed up" is premised on a lie.

(43,308 posts)This is now moving in one direction. Trump has been told, publicly, that the US is a democracy, there will be a time he leaves the presidency, rule of law matters, and there is a lot of evidence of what occurred in campaign 2016.
Malcolm Nance said something on The Beat today about this whole thing being a '30 year dangle' to get Trump to this point. Ari looked shocked.
Speaker Pelosi indicated this will be done with the strongest evidence and case, and let Republicans do as they must - for themselves or for the country and the Constitution. Faced with such a choice, more than a few GOP will see things differently.
Hope they get Mitch too! Oh, sorry - hope Mitch faces complete exoneration! Have to phrase these right.

(5,436 posts)Trump is just doing his usual bully boy thing, telling everyone what his opinion is, that his opinion is the only one that counts, everything else is Fake News, and because he is so superior, you plebs are being traitors and unpatriotic by not believing his every word.
Time to take the attention off the yellow blubber turnip.
What does Pelosi think, what do the other Dems think of the Mueller utterances?
For that matter, what do the Republicans and past Trump voters think?
Therein lies the way back to sanity.
Trump has pretty much rendered himself irrelevant in the big scheme of things by his past words and actions. No hint that he will change, so the only hope for the future is to take the title of POTUS away from him.

(5,506 posts)He's an embarrassment as a human being. But as President, he's a complete disaster.
NanceGreggs
(27,818 posts)But what was missing today was the shit-eating grin he wears when he actually thinks he's scored a victory - like when he bragged that Mueller's report totally exonerated him.
I was actually expecting that - the strutting, the bragging, the "now you've all heard it from Mueller himself - I am vindicated!"
But there was none of that. He looked (and acted) pissed-off and on the defensive - not like someone who actually believed that things went his way
Just a guess, but I think the references by Mueller to 'ongoing investigations' rattled him. God knows he's slow, but I think it might just be sinking in that none of this is going away.

(5,506 posts)He's so accustom to being able to bluff or buy his way out of EVERYTHING, this is new territory for him & his slimy ways. Has there ever been a bigger control freak?! (5,436 posts)If Trump ever thought he could drop the POTUS gig if he got bored with it, and return to his previous life as if nothing has happened, he should have worked out by now that is no longer an option.
That 'safe place' option has well and truly gone.
