If trump/republicans were serious about immigration they would hold employers accountable.

Until/unless republicans demonstrate a willingness to do that one thing, their vile display of immigration hate is nothing more than an incitement of violence and fear tactics republicans use to whip up a very low intellect base, not an attempt to address immigration issues.

Of course they're not going to hold the agricultural monopolies or other big businesses that exploit these workers accountable! That would be addressing the problem at its root, but it would hurt the rich.

3. I'm surprised no Democrat wants to go after employers.

Seems a pretty simple way to end the underground economy that lets employers illegally exploit the undocumented.

He's one of two that I'm actually sending a small amount of money to every month.

The best policy in the world doesn't help you if people don't know about it.

IMO he has the most serious plan to address immigration. He mentioned a few things he’s like to do at the 1st debate. He has also qualified for the second debate.

11. Wouldn't that make a lot of people unemployed and unable to provide for families?

I understand the sentiment, but that would essentially make every undocumented worker unemployed and unable to support their family.

We have 11+ million undocumented people here. We've been using them as an underground labor force for years. It's not right to do that. Not good for them, but also, it really does take jobs from American workers, and I think it is fueling Trump's rise. Democrats have been talking about how welcoming we are of immigrants, but in reality, we are not. Every wave of new immigration has sparked a backlash, and often resulted in new restrictions or deportations. If we don't acknowledge the opposition and work out a path forward acceptable to all, we will never solve it. Part of the solution has to be that we can't be blind to the fact that part of "welcoming" attitude is just businesses looking for cheap, quasi-slave labor.

5. Problem is, I don't hear the dems advocating for this either.

Why is that?

Every job I've ever gotten I've had to show proof that I can work in the USA. Entire industries depend on & exploit undocumented workers.
