What is the best solution for the immigration problem?

Perhaps the Congress should get involved??

Everybody knows that Donald Trump said that "only he could fix it", but it should now be obvious to everyone, that he cannot fix it.

What should be done? Send the National Guard to the border in larger numbers? Carry supplies?

Let the military handle the asylum process? Perhaps there are not enough judges in the system to handle the size of the problem?

Congress does need to get involved, in my opinion.

Thanks to JHB for the great cartoons!

With the pace of Congress, I could see that sort of action coming soon. These bastards need to be stopped ASAP. If Congress says they don't see us, we'd better get out and make sure they do.

be hired.

immigrants, legal or not, should be covered by fair labor standards and occupational safety and health laws. if the employers have no reason to prefer illegals, there will be no reason for them to come.

all of our immigration laws, and their uneven enforcement, result from this insatiable hunger for cheap labor.

reformed so as not to create "illegal" status, the employers would have to treat them equally. All of the labor laws should apply to them. Even if they are "illegal."

if illegals want sanitary facilities or to form a union, they can be made to disappear with a phone call to ice. or they can be made to disappear. no one would ever know.

In our 24/7 Breaking News highly connected world, we often look for the silver bullet and 10 second sound bite answer to complex problems and those rarely if ever exist.

To start we need to clean up the act of what is going on now and treat these folks coming across the borders as refugees which I believe they are. Treat them with compassion and supply them with basic human needs and dignity. Yes, they need to be placed in some sortof facilities where as a group this can be handled more efficiently but the mindset of "they are evil" needs to change to one of they wouldn't be here if things were good or at least good enough at home.

We need to certainly enforce employers use and abuse of workers on this and all levels.

We need to look at what is going on in their home countries and find ways to improve situations there to make leaving less desirable.

We need to look at addressing our immigration laws to bring in more folks who will help our society in the long term.

That's off the top of my head.

Then build walls to keep us from leaving.

Make us all wage slaves, with little access to education, medical care, healthy food, and healthy housing.

Work until you can't and then die quickly.

That's obviously the Republican plan.

At first, I was kind of joking. Now it looks more and more like reality.

Our immigration "problem" won't be solved until the countries people are fleeing are made more safe and livable.

Our workforce is shrinking, so it's doubtful immigrants are stealing that many jobs, or reducing wages.

Most immigrants seem hard working and honest, so crime is not a big deal with them. They tend to be victims more than perpetrators.

Areas I have lived in or spent a lot of time in with large immigrant populations have generally had happy, prosperous, and safe populations.

So, what's the problem? When you get right down to it, increased immigration is changing our demographic, even more so when the existing population has a low birth rate. So, the problem is us white folks will eventually be outnumbered by those multicolored ones.

Oh, the horror!

created by the right wing. We are all agreeing with the framing that there is a problem. It was going along just fine before the Dotard started fooling with it. It's a problem for right wingers only.

If you are a descendant of any Native American ancestry (that means indigenous people of the entire continent of the Americas) you are free to move about, work, and settle anywhere on the entire landmass of the Americas.

This would address the crimes, genocide, and land confiscation by non-natives against continental natives and their descendants. It would be a first step.
