Walmart is quietly closing stores -- here's the full list

Walmart is closing or has already closed at least 17 stores across 11 US states and Canada.

The stores include Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Market stores in Texas, Louisiana, Indiana, Arizona, California, Kansas, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.

The closing date for most of the affected stores was April 19, according to employees of those stores, who confirmed the closings to Business Insider. A store in Bedford, New Hampshire, is expected to close in June, and another in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, is expected to close in July.

Walmart representatives confirmed the closings to various local media outlets.

Thank you for posting!

My wife was a big Walmart shopper for everything. I really dislike their meats, fresh produce and private label. We've gotten to the point that we buy those things elsewhere.

grocery distribution business for over 10 years. The manufacturers hated Walmart. Walmart's stance was here is our price point...match it we won't carry your line. And this was to large manufacturers.

I'll admit it's been several years since I've been in one, but that last several times I went, what I wanted to buy was going to be cheaper elsewhere.

And unless there is literally no other store within 50 miles, you do have a choice. Exercise it.

it was to buy an Igloo cooler for my work, that no other store even had!

I expect crooked WalMart had required an exclusive deal on selling this item, because of its popular size, so they wouldn't even have to compete. The movie 'The High Cost of Low Prices' alluded to exclusive marketing agreements like that.

People to manage your Grocery operations, just what the hell could go wrong. Secondly, when you rely on your Vendors to do Stocking and you cut their next inventory replenishment order, what the hell could go wrong. When you have someone who last week was a Oil Change Guy at Jiffy Lube, running your Produce department, what the hell could go wrong. Same for their other dry goods and HBA's as well as Auto and tools, just what can go wrong.

When you screw with your best customers the employees, just what could go wrong. Yup,big pay raises, but oh how they cut the Hours and increased the Benefits requirements and increased all the employee paid amounts, just what the hell could go wrong.

Only need to look at Sears. Same crap, just another day. What could go wrong?

Abandoned Wal-Marts were supposed to be the detention centers for when President Obama started confiscating everyone's guns. There would be secret underground tunnels linking the centers, and it was all going to start with Operation Jade Helm. I'm guessing that the tea baggers won't be running wild with speculation like they did before.

after Thanksgiving (Black Fri). They wouldn't let workers have full time positions and wouldn't give the part timers benefits and forced them to work whenever required. Fuck Walmart! They closed down mom and pop stores before Amazon did.

I was with a friend I was visiting and I noticed that many of the products are kochtopus brands too. I refuse to spend my money in them. I'll go over 50 miles for another option since I don't shop much anyway. Hell, I'd go to target* instead.

*The only other large dept store I can think of at the moment.
