What kind of cold blooded bastards...

Could work in an enviroment where children are being treated worse than we can legally treat our pets, see the torment, smell the stench, hear the crying of the innocent, without quitting and going to the press to decry this barbarism?

I hope those children's eyes, the sights, the sounds, and the smell haunt their nightmares for the rest of their lives.

We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg, and we are only getting to see that much due to honorable people speaking up.

My biggest fear is that they’ll move the facilities to military bases, where access by lawyers and reporters will be severely limited. That’s when things are going to become truly horrific. We saw after Abu Ghraib just how messed up a subset of people can be, especially when given the power to treat people inhumanely.

I can only hope we can stop this horrific policy in time.

the people running these camps all wind up doing life without parole in GITMO.

And their correctional officers? They would be the current prisoners held in GITMO. They should have expert skills by now. And for icing on the cake all the war criminals from the W crew can be sent there, too. Thanks to them for setting the precedent that no charges need to be filed and no trials need to be held.

Some Docs don't care as long as they get paid.

Same for those other Trumper/GOP, evil creeps who soil our nation while doing anything for a few bucks.

After all, greed is what the Trump/GOP is what teaching all Americas:

Greed is really Trump/GOP's position on everything.

Traits of the Sociopath:

Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

Those places are in red territory. TX, FL - red states that went for Trump.

They wouldn't be able to find people to work at those kinds of camps anywhere else. There would be non-stop leaks and whistle-blowing if they put one in a blue state.

be affected. Even after we bring this nightmare to an end, it will take years for these people to work through their trauma. I learned this reading Viktor Frankl's brilliant work on logotherapy, which is based on the answer to the existential question he developed for himself while a prisoner in Auschwitz.

Frankl was a great man in that he had wisdom, understanding and compassion. He extended this compassion to both his fellow inmates and to the guards.

Now, this is not to say that Frankl wouldn't have wanted the guards to be held accountable for their acts, but at the same time be treated with compassion - with imprisonment our gift to them so they could work through some of the horrible karma in what remained of their lives.

Hmm...a little esoteric there. Sorry. But I am an existentialist.

It's called the criminal justice system and the perpetrators are correctional officers. Everything you're (not) seeing done to these children and their families is done to hundreds of thousands of incarcerated Americans every day. People just refuse to look at our open sores.

One of the reasons I respect Rachel Maddow is that she was a prison-reform advocate long before she became a radio and TV personality.

Dostoyevsky - "you can judge a society by how well it treats its prisoners".

Border Patrol is a favorite job for Iraq War Vets. They were trained by our government and dehumanized to prepare for war. This is the direct result of our foreign wars, they walk among us!
I hope some working in these prisons write books and get interviews on TV. Where is the press on this tragedy? We need publicity at these concentration camps!
