Claiming we aren't funding enough.
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't the House, this session, passed comprehensive immigration reform which the Turtle is sitting on?
What's the bill's number?

(46,166 posts)It was the Republicans who blocked the additional funding the State Dept. requested. The media didn't pound on the lie and the GOP got away with their narrative.

(16,254 posts)but the only thing I can remember is the amount was awfully high for the treatment they are getting...or, any treatment. These camps can't be much different than private prisons. Outrageous amounts of money being spent and questionable quality of life provided.
Early on, I saw young boys with sandwiches of shaved ham which appeared to have at least 1" of meat in each. I wondered how long that would continue or if it was staged for the cameras. Now, we are hearing of uncooked frozen meals and rotten food being served. We don't even feed our pets that way.
Perhaps the funding they are already getting should be investigated as to what these children are getting before more money is allocated. It sounds as though the contractors may be directing the funds to their own coffers rather than to food, supplies and medical care for the children.

(5,934 posts)I remember when they were talking about shifting 1.5 billion dollars from the Pentagon to border troops (I don't remember if they actually did), but they can't afford basic necessities for children?

(82,383 posts)on bail. The excuse that they won't come back for their hearings is debunked. I think it was 80% return for their hearings. Those that don't are ordered removed, so if found they could be deported. This whole crisis is based on the separation as deterrent policy Sessions started and the lock them up for their whole case policy of Barr.
