The President Is A Cheater--today's LA Times.

Link: https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-heffernan-trump-cheater-20190608-story.html

The Mueller report amply chronicles President Trump’s staggering, decades-long crime spree. Like an iron skillet to the head, the extent of Trump’s corruption seems to have stupefied voters, legal scholars and, of course, Congress, all of whom are currently at a loss for a remedy.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in her run for the Democratic nomination for president, put it best: “If he were any other person in the United States, based on what’s documented in that report, he would be carried off in handcuffs.”

But because our norms appear to be inadequate to the current catastrophe in the White House, Trump is not yet in handcuffs. So while Congress equivocates about the Mueller report and its implications for impeachment, voters ought to recognize a more homespun truth that it doesn’t take a degree in con law to understand.

The president is a cheater.

But she chose now to write about it.

His behavior hasn't been a cause for alarm until he ran for the office--nobody thought he had a chance at winning. Why get alarmed when he wasn't going to win? Or so we thought.

We just didn't pay attention because he was a private citizen. And then it was too late to stop him.

Trump wears it as a badge of honor (as does McConnell).

As a consequence, America has lost its way. And it will take time to build the consensus on how to put it back together, including the safeguards to prevent it from happening again. Indeed, with Citizen United still in place, it may not be possible.

He probably supplied info on John Gotti to Mueller when Mueller was taking down Gotti in NY City. Trump bought a lot of cement over the years and the mob is who sells that in New York City.

The question is still open. Who is really running/ruining the government?

Is it the RW oligarchs in this country (Adelson, Mercer, Koch)? Or foreign influences?

Is the (r)epuglcon party really that capable of subverting real governance throughout the nation? I know most of the elected things are morons but do their think-tanks really have better thinkers than us?

Does the M$M really bare much of the responsibility for not being more questioning, more fair in their reporting? How about some of the channels that appear to have more liberal pundits (MSNBC)?

Can the blogosphere with its millions of different faces counter a determined effort to kill democracy?

Can federal and state elections make thing "right" again if the adversary is willing to cheat by every means possible?

Sorry, too many questions. Wake me when we have the answers. Or, probably, better not.

30. Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump
Sun Jun 9, 2019, 04:35 PM
Jun 2019

was an excellent read. Written by Rick Reilly, a former sports writer for Sports Illustrated. Explains how 45's endless cheating at all things golf transfers to the rest of his life.

It is beyond me how 60 million people could have been conned by the guy. So much of his cheating, unethical, and questionably legal behavior was well known to so many people.

Although Trump is a disaster for the country, removing him from office is not going to fix the fact that 60 million people thought he was the best choice for the job. A lot of those people will still vote in 2020.

The Democrats need to stop equivocating about impeachment. It has to be done. The Democrats need to grab media attention--through impeachment hearings--the way Trump grabbed media attention by being such a buffoon. It has to be rammed home day after day after day, that the man has committed high crimes and misdemeanors and is unfit to hold office.

who says that having Trump follow Obama provides a real contrast that forces us to confront our white privilege.

He points out that if we contrast Obama, who is arguably a good, moral man, a good family man, an ethical man - someone we can all admire, with Trump, who is a small-minded, mean-spirited con artist, the contrast forces cognitive dissonance.

Speaking for myself, I'm only partly in agreement with that. I believe Trump is a complete disaster; he and his wreckers have hacked apart our social, moral and economic fabric in ways that will literally take decades to repair. Merely helping Americans regain lost confidence in our institutions will require years of thoughtful policies, and a massive reeducation of Americans aimed at getting them out of the right-wing bubble and exposing them to the truth.

same with their wives AND their children......it's proof that being a fine, moral man is not good enough for racists if you're a black man, while they will lower the bar for a rich white asshole. Heck, as someone said, the bar wasn't just lowered for Trump, it is on the ground rolling around.

It is because the rich capitalist kings of America who control the United States want him there. If a few of them had put their money against him or at least tried to get rid of him now, he would be gone.

They don't seem to mind that a dithering psychotic criminal and his sex worker represent them and the United States. It's probably the type of representation they and capitalism deserve.
