MSNBC Touts Five Female Daytime Anchors, Gets Immediately Called Out For No Women of Color

MSNBC Touts Five Female Daytime Anchors, Gets Immediately Called Out For No Women of Color
By Morgan PhillipsJun 7th, 2019, 10:23 am

MSNBC proudly shared a Los Angeles Times article on Twitter boasting its female-dominated daytime programming, along with a photo of its five female daytime anchors. It was not lost on the public that all the women in the image were white.

The LA Times article was entitled “The Women Warriors of NBC” and detailed how five women– Stephanie Ruhle, Hallie Jackson, Andrea Mitchell, Katy Tur, and Nicolle Wallace— came to dominate its daytime programming. The article points out that this directive comes in light of criticism of the network for its “sluggish” investigation of sexual harassment claims at NBC.

MSNBC captioned the tweet, “The five female anchors who now shape most of the daytime news programming at MSNBC.”

Almost all of the tweet’s nearly 2,000 replies pointed out its lack of diversity. Soledad O’Brien, who previously worked for MSNBC and now hosts a weekly talk show produced by Hearst television, quoted the tweet and added, “Zero women of color in this picture.”

It not like they can't see her, they use her to fill in for everyone else, so why don't they give her a shot?

MSNBC also has several contributors who appease as guests or panelists for every host, but they don't get their own shows.

MSNBC used to be much more diverse, but then suddenly all the hosts of color lost their gigs and were gone. What happened?

a segment of society that not even most white women meet.

Why not at least Joy Reid? Is she - I dunno - too old? When she covers for Rachel Maddow, the show is still good but its more the Joy Reid show and its a goood show.

That's all I'm saying.

Not a good look for a major media personality.

She probably wouldn't have even been hired if that came to light before her hiring.

And... yes, I know, people can change.

shame over the things she says she matured out of it. I imagine her life has been gone over extremely closely over the last four or so years by many people, many times. Nothing else has popped up.

But I do understand how offensive some the things I believe she has admitted to saying, were.

Because this OP is all about daytime female anchors with no women of color.

Post an OP about too many male anchors and I’m all in on dumping a few of them including Chuck Todd, Scarborough, Matthews, Huey Hewitt for starters.

I would normally get rid of the Bush republicans on the far left, but she seems to hate Trump almost as much as I do, so I'm letting her slide for now.

If they also showed that KC/DC right winger in the photo that would be my top pick of on-air personalities to trash.
