You might hate the Democrats. You may loathe the "Libs". But, they have been placed into a point in our history where they may be the only ones to save us?
We still have the Courts. But if they are manipulated and used for partisan reasons, they too, could be at risk. We don't know yet?
It could end up being the Democrats that save our country. Republicans may as well be in Iceland or Antarctica. They are hiding from history.
Everyone knows we have a buffoon in the White House. He is a lying, deceitful, criminal, piece of crap. But, he holds onto power and looks to extend it.
There are people that know secrets about Donald Trump and could step forward and help our country. Most of them are Republicans and they are silent. They are not patriots. They are not courageous people. They are cowards. Don McGahn and Robert Mueller come to mind.
The last bullet in the gun may be the impeachment process. That will be up to the Democrats whether or not to pull the trigger. The Democrats may be the only ones that can save our country from this scourge that has crept over this great land.

(67,112 posts)Impeachment, they will be seen as weak and ineffective. And Trump will have instilled a new direction for the country, as the US democracy fades into history. ... and Trump will likely be elected in 2020.
If we dont impeach, Trump will control the narrative.

(6,231 posts)The investigations going on now can easily be used for impeachment. Your time frame is different from what is really going on.

(6,007 posts)When they know that a partisan hack AG can release whatever he thinks will help Trump. That strikes at the core of our national security. When is it the "right time"? After the country falls?
I hear all kind of talk about "Oh, Barr wouldn't release anything damaging." Or, "the adults in the intelligence community will not allow it."
BS. We should not have to "trust" them and their decisions, that power should never be given in the first place so there would be no chance for mistakes. It is playing with fire and they don't seem to care.
I saw the ad by Tom Steyer during Hardball and it was good . . . they did nothing.

(7,888 posts)I posted this reply to Goose before reading your thread.
I did a search, then realized IT considers all publicity "good publicity". Caligula was a close match.
It is my opinion that a decade from now, IT will occupy a limited few word description by historians. "Dump died as he lived, scorned by his peers, bankrupt morally and financially."

(4,341 posts)or someone of influence, you wrote it very well, concise and to the point. I will send the link to everyone I know, as I always do, but your message needs to be heard louder than it can here at DU where we are all part of the choir, no offense with that, but we are here because we share a common thought, I think those who do not understand are the ones who need to hear it, to read it.

(100,102 posts)That's why they are supporting such a stooge like Trump - he's giving them what they want and they have convinced their followers that he's been anointed by God. We have to protect them with everything we got.

(100,102 posts)They want a totalitarian theocratic government all the way down to the local level whether we want it or not, and they will prop up any miserable stooge they want to get it. As long as he says what they want to hear, he's in it for life.

Religion declining in importance for many Americans, especially for Millennials
By: Jana Riess
Fewer than half of Americans consider religion to be an extremely or very important part of their identity, according to a new study.
The American Family Survey, an annual national survey conducted by the Deseret News and the Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy at Brigham Young University, found that just 43% of Americans viewed religion as a core component of their identity in 2018.
I guess it comes down to, can they buck social trends?
