I think these bans are about more than abortion.

Republicans saw women voters (largely the pro-life ones) deliver victories to Democrats in the 2018 elections, threatening GOP control of government.

Now, Republican legislators are trying to make abortion & even miscarriage a felony.

Why? Sure, there's the usual "pro-life" base BS, but I think a lot of folks are missing something important:

FELONS CAN'T VOTE

These bans are a way they can take the right to vote away (at least temporarily in most states) from pro-choice women who have an abortion. It's safe to say this will suppress Democratic votes more than Republican votes.

Those extreme antiabortion laws are designed to provide an end run around the 19th Amendment. The only ones who should be punished are those arrogant white males pushing their extremist views on a moderate majority.

next it will be religion back in schools. They want us to be forced into their religion or what they pass for religion.

It's not about reducing the number of women who vote at some hypothetical future date.

Anti-choice people think Abortion (and birth control that stops implantation) is literally murder. It is an article of faith for them. They are not Machiavellian schemers like Chris Kobach.

Stop making it more complicated than it is.

And they actually don't consider Abortion to be murder, it's just a grift? Again, you're overcomplicating this.

You may want to consider that Anti-Choice voters are sincere in their misguided, subjective beliefs. They are the same voters who sincerely believe Hillary should be in jail for Benghazi, that MS-13 is going to rape their granddaughters, and that Obama was going to take their guns.

They're delusional, but they actually do believe it. They've reduced this to a binary choice: a zygote is physically and morally equivalent to a newborn, and abortion is deliberately killing that life. There is no gray area.

Jeez....they’re passing Anti abortion laws because that’s what they believe. Don’t make it more complex than needed.

Or it could be a new shiny object to take our interests away from the Mueller investigation and impeachment. Just a thought! Not that I don't think it's an important issue, but there are more important issues at this point in our country.

That's it. That's what all the horrid policies the Trump administration is gearing toward. The rise in white supremacism. The hate toward any diverse opinions and lifestyles. The anti-abortion extremism. It's all about white males exerting dominance. They want to take this country back - to the 1700s. They want to rule, and they want to rule with an iron fist, because that's exactly what JAYSUS would have wanted.

Republics have essentially eliminated Abortion Services in the states they control already, through a combination of legislation, terrorism, and intimidation.

Sure, patriarchy plays an essential role in their worldviews, but this is simply the best chance they've had to overturn Roe v Wade. So they're striking while the iron is hot.
